Allison University and studied in Japan to perfect his woodblock techniques, where he remained for 17 years before returning to Canada. He became a professional artist in 1975 while residing in Japan. This woodblock, titled "Interior" dates from his first year as a professional artist and depicts a room with a central fire pit and tea kettle hanging above it...

Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print titled “Shop Girl” by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) dated 1960. Signed in black ink at the lower right. Paper size: 15 1/4" x 10 1/2" (image: 15 1/8" x 10 1/4). Very good overall condition and color. Trimmed margins. A color illustration of this print can be found on page 111, plate 338, of the 2003 catalogue produced by the Kiyoshi Saito Museum of Art, Yanaizu.
Haku Maki did the months of the year in hiragana, not in Chinese characters which are also used for months in Japan. July しちがつ is an A.P. and measures 13.75in W x 5.75in H. An embossed print, it is in good condition. See August below.
A set of three framed woodblock prints by artist Hiroshige depicting a busy street at night, a boat scene, and a small, upscale gathering. The similar usage of deep blue in each print is complimentary to the set.
