Lovely Japanese Hira Taiko Drum, made from a light hardwood, and hung from a Hiratsuri stand. The drum has iron studding to keep its drum skins in place and gold kanji/kana on a black metal strip, with a gold taiko logo for Maru Masa. A drumstick is included which hangs off a hook from the Hiratsuri stand. Makes a lovely drum sound as it is intact and in good condition. Japanese vase of convex shape, Totai decoration of a bird and a butterfly among leaves and berry bushes. The motif created by thin metal threads is filled in with colored lacquer and polished. The brown lacquer background is carved as to resemble tree bark (totai). This complicated technique for decoration on porcelain was in use in Japan in the 1920’s and 30’s.The base with old paper label, indistinct letters in blue and the word “Lacquer”. Edo Period Utagawa Kuniyoshi wood block print c 1859, nice print handling wear especially at the lower corner as seen in pictures. Approximately 5.75 by 9" we have around 18 pieces from the same volume .

Ink wash landscape. Painted with ink on silk. Signed and sealed.

Some insignificant light marks are present on the painting and mounting, otherwise the piece is in very good condition. It is accompanied by a paulownia wood storage box.

Japanese Kutani Porcelain Plate, Ca. 1930, 8 1/2" diameter, with orange red overglaze design of pair of birds in the lake and highlighted in brilliant gold decoration, red mark on the bottom. The condition is good, some gilt decorations are worn on some areas, no damages.

This fan was made for export during the 1930's. Silk fabric with hand painted "city life" scene and support struts of black lacquer with ornate painted decoration.

Vintage Japanese burlwood stand of irregular shape to be used for placing objects during tea ceremony, or for display of ceramics or okimono. Wonderful dense wood with supremely beautiful texture resembling altocumulus clouds, in excellent condition. Length 5 1/4 inches, maximum width 3 inches, height 11/16 inches.

A fabric in new condition (never been sewn), 13 7/8" in width. The remaining length is 3 yrds + 31 inches = 11'7" (3.53 meters).

Japanese Male Doll with Samurai hair cut, 3 5/8" high, 4 3/4" wide, 3" deep, wearing brocade silk garment. The expression of his face is very well executed and lacquered on the carved wood. The condition is very good.

A very large Japanese lithograph print by artist Masami Teraoka (b. 1936), titled 'Namiyo at Hanauma Bay'. Depiction of a nude geisha floating in the rolling ocean waves, with her kushi comb barely hanging onto her wet hair and holding snorkeling headgear in her hands. Lifetime edition Japanese shin hanga chuban sized woodblock print titled in kanji and English "Benkei Bridge" by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) dated Showa 16 (1941). Pencil-signed at the lower right margin and with the artist's black ink signature and red seal at the lower left corner of the image. Paper: 10 5/8" x 7 3/4" (image: 9 1/2” x 6 3/4”). Very good overall condition with full margins.

A bag for backpack made of Miyama Kansuge, "hiroro" by dialect which is a group of carex. It is made in Aizu region in Fukushima prefecture. It has purple and dark indigo cotton cloth interknitted in the cord. 20th century. In excellent condition. 40cm x 39cm.
