A Hazara prayer cloth from Wardak or Bamiyan province, Afghanistan, circa early 20th century. Satin stitch in multicolored silk thread on fine white linen. Squares and triangles are embroidered in complex symmetrical arrangements to form a very balanced, unified composition. Measures 32 x 32 cm. Condition: Very good, a small mend on the perimeter.

Finely crafted, detailed serpentine jade carving of a male figure in standing position, holding a fan with the left hand, comes with a wood base, 4.5 inches in height, condition consistent with age without any issues.

his is a wonderful Japanese Cloisonne lidded bowl, done in the Plique A Jour style. Lidded bowls like this are very difficult to come across. The piece is fairly large in size measuring 4 7/8" across and is 3 1/2" tall. An array of colorful and bright flowers and leaves decorate this exquisite bowl both top and bottom. The enamel is very thick and the decorations appear to have layered over top of the translucent inner layer. . It stands on 3 enameled and silver feet...

Japanese cloisonne small vase with blooming roses. There is a fully bloomed red rose and a small budding red rose. Along the base, there is a blooming white rose with pink edged petals. Regal free-flowing bamboo and rattan basket from one of the masters of bamaboo basket making, Sakaguchi Sounsai b. 1899-1967. This is a pale blue Ando Jubei box depicting a shrine among pine trees, the design flowing down the front side of the piece. Enameled in both standard silver wire and wireless technique and measuring 5.25" x 4", the box is brocade lined and is marked junjin on the inner rim.

Condition: Minor wear to the bottom, and hairlines to the sides of the top as illustrated in the final two photographs.

This chawan was fired in the kilns of one of Kyoto’s best known raku-yaki potters, Sasaki Shoraku III (1944-). The Shoraku line began when the grandfather of the current potter established a kiln near the famous Kiyomizu temple, nestled at the foot of the eastern mountains in Kyoto. In 1945, the kiln was moved to Kameoka near the Yada shrine where it remains today.

It is 23.6 inches (60 cm) in circumference. The white jade is 1.85 inches (4.7 cm) long by 1.4 inches (3.6 cm) wide and 10.46 mm thick. The coral beads are 6.77 mm to 7.99 mm wide. the turquoise beads are 8.49 mm to 9.29 mm wide. The total weight is 55.1 gram.

This is an old prayer cloth from central Afghanistan measuring 35.7 x 35.7 cm. The embroidery technique is satin stitch in silk thread intricately worked on a fine cotton linen ground. These cloths are unique to the Hazara and used to protect the prayer stone from Kerbala, Iraq, which is a holy city of pilgrimmage to the Hazara and other Shi'ite Muslims. Beautiful bronze offering chalice from India with one large peacock surrounded by four smaller peacocks, bowing their heads in worship to the central bird.
