Monkey mask are no so commun among tribal himalayan mask. very hard and heavy wood and rough design, long hairs likely from cow or horse have been use to figure the barb and mustaches nailed on a ruber piece. Tis mask is coming from the Middle West district of Salyan. Mid 20th, H 28 cm

Beautifully plaited bamboo basket by Iizuka Sounsai of the famed Iizuka Family of reknown basket makers in the Taisho and Showa eras. Signed on the reverse with an incised signature by the artist: Kyokusho Saku or Made by Kyokusho (Iizuka Kyokusho, the go or art name of Iizuka Sounsai, active early 20th century). Late Taisho – early Showa era, circa 1920 – 1940.

This mask or may be an effigie as the back is flat likely represnts a raktsatsa ( which means devil or bad spirit). Indeed this might not be a mask weared by people but rather an effigie posted on an entrance either a door or a window as the back is flat. This piece is very old with a local repair, carved in semi hard wood, at least around 100 y , large size H 38 cm , wide 25 cm. From East central central, district of Rameschap,likely from Tamang of Brahman people.

An old Uzbek textile from northern Afghanistan, traditionally used in the yurt. Each side measures 26 x 40 cm including the wool fringe. It is in very good condition, appropriate for its age and origin. The embroidery is very fine cross stitch ("petit point") in silk thread. The reverse is lined in white cotton. Estimated age: mid to late 20th century. Condition is overall very good, just one minor stain (see first two photos).
This small carved jade (jadeite) snuff bottle is 2 ¼ inches tall, 1 ½ inches wide and a little more than half inch thick. One side depicts a dragon leaping out of the ocean trying to catch a fire globe. The pattern on the other side evokes the eight trigrams from the Book of Changes. The symbol of Ying and Yang is in the middle. It was carved around 1980. The workmanship is excellent and it is well hollowed. It has an agate cap which is quite possibly a replacement...
