This is a very fine vintage Plique-a-Jour bowl. It is prolifically decorated with colorful hydrangea and butterflies. It is a petite bowl measuring 3 3/4 inches across and 2 inches tall. An uncommon piece in excellent condition.

This Murano Glass modern expression is typical of the Flavio Poli vessel and animal designs for Seguso Vetri d'Arte in the 1940's and 1950's. There are many references to the modern forms with multiple sommerso layers of controlled bubbles and a generous layer of gold leaf by Flavio Poli. A brilliant red transparent lucite jewelry box or dresser box, the hinged lid inset with a sterling silver medallion illustrating a pair of lovebirds. The interior of the lid has a small round mirror. The medallion is stamped "Sterling" and has a design patent number registered in 1945.
