This Art Deco charger, c 1939, is from Kupittaan pottery in Finland. The decoration, a male nude combined with a border of laurel leaves, suggests a Olympics venue. The 1940 Olympic Games, originally scheduled for Japan, was rescheduled for Helsinki, Finland. Those games were postponed because of the Soviet invasion of Finland in 1939. This charger probably was created in anticipation of the Helsinki games. It measures 14" in diameter, and is in mint condition. A very rare object.

This is a set of SIX porcelain coffee cups (3" x 3 7/8") and matching saucers, handpainted for Gefle, Upsala-Ekeby. Mint condition. A superb, eye-catching set.

This is one of the finest examples of Berndt Friberg's ceramic mastery that I have acquired since dealing from 1984. A pair of superb Czech Deco cabinet plates from the 1920s. This wonderful and decorative pair of Czechoslovakian porcelain 9-1/2" cabinet plates c1920s has an orange and yellow multicolour angular border outside a lush cobalt blue inner rim with gold decoration. The portrait inner has gold decoration around the perimeter and highly detailed and colourful transfer portraits of jewel bedecked young ladies. Each bears the D&F CZECHOSLOVAKIA mark of EPIAG PROESCHOLD & CO...

This set of 6 porcelain tea cups and saucers was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in the 1940s or 1950s. The saucers are 4 7/8 inches in diameter and the cups are 1 3/4 inches high. The fine translucent porcelain has a molded swirl pattern. They are hand painted with Dresden type floral painting in vivid colors. Condition: Excellent

Scheier Art pottery plate by Edwin and Mary Scheier in a mat mauve glaze with stylized decoration of two faces. Mint condition. Circa 1950. Size: 7 1/8 inches in diameter. Signed on the underside with an incised Scheier mark. Scheier Pottery was the result of a collaboration by the husband/wife team of ceramicists, Edwin Scheier and Mary Goldsmith. An English Bursley Ware bowl by Charlotte Rhead, 1940s, of square shape. Slip-glaze decoration in the Carnations or T. L. 40 pattern in blue and gilt on off-white, marbled ground. Factory mark and TL 40 = pattern number and the mark of the painter who applied the raised decoration, Mary Powell. Height "2¼/ 6 cm, width (diagonally) "4¾/ 12 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that all the little dots and accents that unfortunately look brown on the photos are really in gilt.
