Late Qing Dynasty to Republic period (1900s to 1930s) Chinese porcelain covered round box for seal paste with underglaze blue painting of a phoenix in flight among wispy clouds. Excellent quality freehand painting with beautiful washes, in superb condition, was never used, I guess. Four seal style character mark on the bottom. Very quiet subtle piece for scholar’s desk. Diameter 2 1/2 inches.
Vintage Chinese soapstone small scholar’s rock carved to represent a Taihu stone with numerous perforations and crevices. Beautiful Liaoning green soapstone with excellent waxy surface, extraordinary carving, in superb condition. Wonderful object for a scholar’s desk. Base length 1 1/4 inches, total height 3 1/8 inches.
Vintage pair of cut jadeite pieces to be used as Chinese scholar’s scroll weights. Stone of olive green color with natural lines and differently colored veins, sides showing the skin of the boulder from which the pieces were cut. Nicely polished, very pleasing objects for a scholar’s desk. Height (left one of the first photo) 2 11/16 inches, weight of the left one 265 grams (9.4 ounces), the right one 210 grams (7.4 ounces).
A beautiful early 20th C. very unusual bamboo Chinese hat holder, very nicely carved with three old men opening a scroll motif. It has few normal bamboo cracking & a tiny hanging hold please see the photos. Otherwise in its very good condition.Marked China. H: 30cm (12") $215
Antique Chinese Carved Stone Dog figure carving possibly a scholar desk piece or a scroll weight unsigned the stone is somewhat soft, so it is not a jadeite good condition, from the estate of a noted Archologist. Size 2.75" long

Old Chinese scholar’s rock in a shape of a natural boulder perfectly resembling a huge monolith with layered structure. Gives wonderful impression of immense energy of the mountain, presents great views from all sides. Beautiful stone with incredible wealth of textures and colors. Very strong scholar’s object, excellent patina on the surface of the stone, fitted rosewood stand. Height with stand 4 5/8 inches.

A lovely Chinese translucent natural gray agate calligraphy brush with a bone ferrule and end cap. Brush is natural hair. The beads are slightly smaller than most, each measuring only .75" diameter (across) x 1" long. It is just beautiful. Brush measures 11.75 inches long.

Blue glazed porcelain Chinese scholar's brush rest. In excellent condition, it measures 2 7/8 inches high, 2.5" across.
This BaLin stone carving is a 1970’~1980’s product. It is 3 1/4” high, 3” wide and 1 ¼” thick. It depicts a dragon playing with a fire globe surrounded by lucky clouds. BaLin stone is produced in Chifeng city in Inner Mongolia. The mine was found and developed in the mid-20th century. Now, BaLin stone has become one of the principal materials for making seal stone or stone carving in China. This carving is in great condition.
