A contemplative and artistic rendering of a lotus leaf bowl with deteriorated edges. The lotus is a symbol of purity, beauty and a metaphor in teaching Buddhism. The theme of the bowl is the 3 Friends of Winter or Shochikubai (plum blossom, bamboo, and pine tree) in colored enamel against a gray ground in the center. The recessed foot has 2 character mark Fuku, meaning "good fortune" or "happiness".
