Fire lighting implement consisting of a piece of iron, pieces of fabric and a fragment of flint stone, the whole set being contained in a rattan box. This implement belonged formerly to a member of a tribe located in Palawan Island, South West of the Philipino Archipelago. Such tribe, like a few others in this island, has in some aspects remained in the Stone Age. It was put under the protection of the Philipino Government some 40 years ago. Rare semi antique supplementary warp silk embroidery on handspun indigo cotton, blanket from the diverse Tai ethnic group Vietnam/Laos. I collected this in Chiang Mai around 12 years ago and would date it around 40 to 80 years old. Nowadays you just can’t find this sort of textile anymore. Some embroidery losses and a hole along the edge (noted in enlargements) but overall in very good condition. Dimensions: 84cm/33in x 145cm/57in.

Burmese repousse silver bowl, the bulbous basin with panels decorated with intricately hammered and chased reserves of pronounced animals, early 20th century period. Very old (over 50 years) which is ancient by Burmese lacquer standards. This was possibly made by the Shan who favored dramatic geometric designs over the more figural Burman style. This has some fritting on the lacquer. H: 24cm/9.5in D: 18cm/7.1in.

Ancient Thai Mon Period Lacquered and gilded Stucco Buddhist Head. The over life-size head is believed to be that of a temple guardian figure. The sculpture was split from ear to ear when we acquired it and had it restored to museum quality the gold is original only the left lower cheek was redone .
