Charming Japanese fan painting depicting a small bird on a branch, painted in ink and light color on paper, attributed to Kawabata Gyokusho (1842-1913), Meiji period circa 1900. Size: 17" long x 6" wide.

Wood board used by a "nushi", a lacquer-ware artisan in charge of lacquering urushi. It has natural dripping and dried glue(natural) while lacquering. Both sides are beautiful. In good condition. The first half of the 20th century. 9.5cm x 91cm x 0.9cm

The back of the lid is made of golden hiramaki-e lacquer on a black background, representing in a close-up a branch of a Japanese cherry tree with its three fruits, with light brown outlines revealing a ring of the tree. Inside the box and base in nashi-ji lacquer. The Japanese cherry tree (Prunus serrulata) is an emblematic tree of the country, producing the cherry blossoms (sakura)...

Large natsume in black lacquer covered with gold powder (maki-e). Gold and silver snowflakes decoration in togidashi maki-e on nashi-ji background. The interior is made of dense nashi-ji lacquer.

Mint and elegant tea bowl by one of the greatest potters, Rokubei Kiyomizu VI.

A lovely Shino tea bowl fashioned from coarse, iron-rich Mino clay and covered in feldspar glazing. The crackled glazing along with the elongated kutsugata shape (shoe shape) are very typical of this type of Shino-ware and these elements compliment each other nicely...

An original piece by the second in the line of Choraku potters. This bowl is stamped twice on the side and once on the pedestal with the mark of Ogawa Choraku II (1912-1991).

The Choraku line began when a student of Kichizaemon XI (Keinyu) and Kichizaemon XII (Konyu) opened an independent kiln in Kyoto in 1904. The line was officially given the name Choraku in 1906 by Choyuken, the head of a very influential tea ceremony association...
