This is a samurai armor set (yoroi and helmet) for Boy’s Day in Japan. By displaying a set like this, the parents hope to inspire boys in their manliness, bravery, discipline and the honor codes that come with it.

Here on the lids, it is written the name of the owner and the occasion. It is to celebrate his first Sekku in the fourteenth year of Showa period (1939). On the reverse side of the lids, there are labels of Tanimoto Yousuke, the doll maker...

Junrei's hakui (pilgrim's hanten) with many stamps of holy places in Shikoku, which is made of white hand-spun cotton. The ink letters reads "Shikoku Hachiju-hachi-ka-reisho" which means eighty eight holy places in Shikoku. It seems that the pilgrim visited all the eighty eight holy places. In good condition. An early 20th C. Chinese large white porcelain Buddha in excellent condition. Marked. H:10.5" W:11"

A Chinese woven silk woven tapestry of children at play with inscription and seal marks. The tapestry was mounted on a paper scroll and bordered with silk brocade. Scroll bars are missing. You may want to to consider framing or remounting the tapestry. The tapestry is in excellent condition, detailing is also excellent. Tapestry only measures 22" x 11". Dates 1930's.

Kashigata, mold for making Japanese sweets, in the shape of a wasabi root. Carved wood, ca. early-mid 20th century. H.1.5"(3.75cm) x L.8.25"(21cm) x W.3.5"(8.75cm). Kashigata have long been in use for making molded sweets in Japan and many other parts of the world (especially Asia and Northern Europe.) In Japan, shapes often include felicitous or auspicious themes for luck, long life, wealth, etc. This one, shaped as a wasabi root, is unusual and interesting.
