Large Japanese Gigaku demon mask, covered with silver, gold, and bronze lacquer. The colors gold is associated with the underworld, especially when apparent in a demon's eyes. This mask sports long fangs, a stubby ridged nose, and furrowed brow. The inside of the mask has rice paper with kanji signature of the sculpting artist. Tiasho age c1920. This small jade (nephrite) carved brush washer is 2 3/8” long, 1 3/8” high and 1 3/4” thick. It is a mid-20th century product. It depicts a pomegranate surrounded by a peach branch and leaves. It is in excellent condition.

The box has a wonderful raised medallion on the lid depicting a courtesan in a pavilion garden , the lid edge has auspicious symbols with color enamel . Chinese printed scroll in colours on paper. Old label saying 21 The Mother of Tai Shan. 136 x 56 cm. Good condition. Undated, estimated to be early 20th century or earlier. Can be viewed in central London and shipped worldwide.

Porcelain polychrome statue of the noted sage, Liu Hai. Liu Hai was the noted 10th century alchemist who learned the secret of immortality from the three legged frog, Jin chan (Chan chu). The frog is known for beckoning wealth. Later, in China and Japan, the combination of Liu Hai and the frog became the symbol of fortune and wealth.
