Midcentury Modern sterling silver box. Rectangular with straight sides. Cover hinged with straight tab. Box interior velvet lined. Cover interior gilt. Fully marked including maker’s stamp (Schroth), phrase “Hand Made”, and no. 451. Very good condition.

An old Uzbek puttee dating from the 1950s or 1960s. Silk embroidery on an ivory linen ground, embroidered in long and short stitch, the trademark of Uzbek embroidery. Condition is very good, some staining on one side. It measures 8.3 cm x 58 cm (w/o string). The string measures 31 cm. Puttees are a strip of cloth wound spirally around the leg from the ankle to the knee.

In mostly satin stitch and cross stitch in silk thread, this piece measures 45½ x 36½ inches (115.6 x 92.7 cm). Saye goshe are an Uzbek V-shaped fringed hanging used to decorate piles of quilts when they are stored during the day. The blazing colors on this textile depict traditional Uzbek motifs with stylized pomegranate flowers. Still living in yurts, the Lakai Uzbek have perfected the interior decoration of their homes...

A hand-embroidered bag made by Pashtun nomads from Ghazni province (probably Katawaz), Afghanistan. Floral motifs combined with arabesques in herringbone stitch in silk thread on a purple silk background. The Bokhara couching technique is used to maximum effect, where the metallic threads are laid parallel to each other and fastened at regular intervals by tiny red stitches. Blue beads adorn the edges to ward off the evil eye. The interior of the bag is lined in a blue printed fabric...

Fenton Thumbprint Colonial Green Basket, 8" was produced in the 1960's. No logo on this one, it was made too early for that. Fenton started putting its logo on items in late 1969. Then gradually imprinted its logo on everything in 1972. (just in case you wanted to know). It is in mint condition.

This is a lady's purse from Bamiyan, Afghanistan, finely embroidered in silk thread. The Hazara excel in making very intricate geometric design embroideries executed in brick stitch. This purse has also some chain stitch and couching stich ("basma") on the reverse, which features three separate pockets. Condition is good with some staining on the front consistent with its age (mid to late 20th century). The purse measures 10.9 x 23.6 cm.

Being offered is an exceedingly rare circa 1965 handmade sterling silver pill box by Janna Thomas of Taxco, Mexico. Handcrafted pill box in a layered rope design with a moving silver tassel finial. Thomas designed for Tiffany & Company before moving to Mexico and opening up her own shop. Dimensions: 1 1/2 inches diameter by 1 inch high. Weight 3 1/2 ounces. Marked as illustrated in photo. In excellent condition. Incredible designer!

HUGE and RARE Murano Cased ALEXANDRITE and PINK SOMMERSO Art Glass Figural BIRD Centerpiece Bowl!!!! Documented as Antonio Da Ros for Vetreria Gino CENEDESE, circa 1961 (from exhibition photograph in Marc Heiremans - Murano Glass book, page 180). This piece is very thick and heavy and very unusual bowl form. The Neodymium glass changes color, as shown in the photos...

Fostoria made the etching Chintz from 1940-1976. This 10.75" winged bowl with 4-tabbed feet is in excellent condition.

Documented in Leslie Pinas book "20th Century Italian Glass", pg. 174, this asymmetrical plate is constructed from gathers of crystal and opalino glass, augmented with green chips and copper aventurine which are manipulated with a tool to achieve the "starry nights" design. The loose, organic form is notable. Measuring 11.5"w x 9.5"d x 2"h, this fine piece of Murano glass is in good condition, with expected wear on the base consistent with its vintage.

Embroidered purses ("bushkiri") are used by the Baluch to store and carry valuables and bridal dowry gifts. This little purse is embroidered in extremely fine satin stitch, brick stitch, and ladder stitch in silk thread, forming interlocking lozenge and chevron designs. Condition: some wear throughout. It measures 10 x 18 cm when opened, 9.5 x 10 cm when closed.

Snake carved out of a natural piece of twisted keyaki (paulownia) wood, stained dark brown. Japan, Showa era, perhaps a bit earlier.
