Japanese woodblock print by well-known contemporary artist Tetsuya Noda (b. 1940), a professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts. His techniques combine woodblocks with silk screening. This print is part of his famed "Diary" series, titled "Diary : Jan. 15th '84 (1984)" in pencil. with calligraphy on the lefthand side, no. 39/40, signature in pencil with red fingerprint.

Lovely handpainted bombay two-drawer check with marble top. Beautifully painted flowers decorate the front, outlined by green with tiny flowers. It measures 30" tall x 23" wide x 16" deep. It probably dates from the mid 20th century, and is in beautiful original condition.

India 19th c hand carved stone spice bowls, used throughout India in traditional homes these spice bowls are carved in a variety of stone these are mostly seatite . The larger has a nice warm patina I use one in my kitchen for sea salt. Size over 3.75 w on larger 2.75 or so on the smaller H just under 2 " on taller.

Japanese vase of convex shape, Totai decoration of a bird and a butterfly among leaves and berry bushes. The motif created by thin metal threads is filled in with colored lacquer and polished. The brown lacquer background is carved as to resemble tree bark (totai). This complicated technique for decoration on porcelain was in use in Japan in the 1920’s and 30’s.The base with old paper label, indistinct letters in blue and the word “Lacquer”. Bi faced "ghurra" (churning rod holder) finely carved to represent a back to back, squatting, human couple, man opposite woman. Wood, with nice dark brown glossy patina.
