Kokeshi, folk toy of NE Japan. Wood, height 10". Made by Sugawara Toshi, born Showa 13 (1938) and passed away in December of 1992 at the age of 55. Akiu Onsen is a hot spring resort not far from the city of Sendai. It is thought to be one of the oldest kokeshi-making locales in the Tohoku region where all traditional (dentou) kokeshi originate.

Kokeshi, folk toy of NE Japan. Wood, height 9.625". This is a Yajiro-kei (Yajiro-classification) kokeshi, generally crafted in the vicinity of Shiroishi City in southern Miyagi Prefecture. However, this particular craftsman, Sato Seikou (?), lives in the next prefecture of Fukushima, on the coast in Iwaki City. He was born on February 22, Showa 22 (1947). This kokeshi probably dates from ca. 1980.

Kokeshi, folk toy of NE Japan. Wood, Height 9.5". This is an example of the unique Nambu-kei kokeshi from Iwate Prefecture. Of the Tohoku (NorthEast) Region where all "dentou" (traditional) kokeshi originate, Iwate may have the fewest number of craftsmen and localized traditions. Unique among these is the unpainted Nambu-kei kokeshi shown here...

This is a finely potted wufu good fortune and longevity bowl from the early Republic period (1912 -1949). It is painted in copper red with gold colour. It stands on a high foot rim and everted upwards to a gold gilded rim. On the inside of the bowl, on the inner rim, there is key fred design. On the base of the inside of the bowl, in the centre is the character “shou” – longevity...

This very well painted Chinese Famille Rose ceramic picture is 8 ¾ inches wide and 11 ¾ inches long (with frame is 14 ½ inches wide and 19 ½ inches long). It depicts two long-tailed birds standing on a higher branch looking at their offspring in their nest. This tile picture is a 1940’s product. It is in excellent condition.

This old cherry amber bead necklace is 29 inches long. The beads are 17 mm long and 12 mm wide. The large bead on the end is 23 mm long and 18 mm wide. The stupa shape bead is about 48 mm long and 18 mm wide. It is in great condition.

This very well carved 20th century Japanese netsuke is 1 ½ inches high, 1 ¼ inches wide and a little more than 1 ¼ inches thick. It depicts a mouse bending over, scratching his chin. It is signed “Shozan”. The carving and polishing are just great and it is in excellent condition.

A remarkable sterling silver bonbon spoon by Watson. The detail is easily equivalent to work by Tiffany, Whiting or the other great Victorian silversmiths. The bowl is decorated fully with grape leaves, clusters of fruit, and delicate tendrils finished with intricate piercing. The handle, designed as knarled grape vine, widens into a large cluster of fruit surrounded with foliage at the tip of the handle. The back of the handle is also decorated to match...

Incredibly beautiful flame mahogany Sheridan style sideboard, circa 1930. This piece is signed by Berkey and is in fabulous original condition. It has inlay around all the drawers with shell inlay in the corners of the doors, and a large brass gallery in the back. It measures 78" long x 24" deep x 39 1/2" tall.

Loely Royal Doulton figurine of a lady dressed up with her Easter bonnet Called "Easter Day" this figurine is numbered HN2039. It measures 7 1/2" tall x 5" wide and is in perfect condition.

Beautiful pair of Rosenthal doves made in 1936 by Fritz Heidenreich. They each measure approximately 6 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" tall and are in perfect original condition
