Condition: Excellent; a very shallow 1/8" ding on the back side near the bottom. Slight paint loss to the red stoplight.

Japanese bronze fu-dog and ball. The playful fu-dog stands with mouth open in a dynamic pose with back feet on the ground and front paws on the ball. The ball is made of open work bronze with a design of peonies and scrolling vines.

Taisho Period C. 20th Century

Reddish brown sack mask to which are fastened three gourds, one on top and one over each ear, and painted reddish brown. Rag ruff. Kilt made from a woman's old dress. Body painted with red-brown clay. He carries a feather and a rattle. Koyemsi is the most common Hopi clown. He appears in Mixed Katsina Dances and sometimes a group of Koyemsi appear in a dance of their own. At First Mesa they are said to sing Zuni songs. Length 3 1/8" X Width at the shoulders 1"

Very RARE early 1930’s Japanese dark brown textured silk jacket with a hand painted lining commemorating the flight of the Clasina Madge flown by American pilot, Cecil Allen, in a race from Japan to the United States. Cecil A. Allen, 1904-1935, was a well known racing pilot whose heroic deeds were admired by the Japanese, as evidenced by this kimono.
