John Costigan, American, 1888-1972. This painting is oil on canvasboard, 10" by 14" in a 2" frame. Overall dimensions are 14" by 18". It is signed lower left J.E.Costigan, N.A. It is inscribed verso with the Title, Artist's name and address and is dated 1942. Costigan's best paintings are the wooded scenes with heavy impasto and brilliant color. This is a gem with a lovely Mother and Child among the splashes of autumn colors. Costigan is listed in Who was Who in American Art and his paintings sell for up to $30,000.

Francoise Boucher Attr or School of : Cupids in Landscape: Pair 18th C French. This pair of oils on canvas is lovely in the quality of painting and the charming subject matter. Each panel is 28"w by 64"h. They had hinges on them as a standing screen but were later used as hanging panels. They are from a prominent french family who brought them to the USA.

Constantine Kluge, French, 1912-2003. This wonderful oil on canvas is 28 by 35.5 in a modern 3" gold leaf frame for overall dimensions of 34" by 41.5". It is in very good condition and is signed lower right.

Italian. 17th-18th Century, Oil on Copper, 21"w by 15.25"h in an antique frame 26.25"w by 22"h. On the verso is an antique inscription that attributes the painting to Jean Honore'Fragonard 1775. The inscription is obviousely antique and written in English.

Warren Davis, American/New York, 1865-1927. This perfect painting is oil on canvas in its original frame. Signed verso and titled "The Ripple", it is the last oil painted by Davis in 1926-27, from the estate of his widow. It is in perfect condition with only a slight wave in the canvas which would easily be corrected by keying out the canvas. The back of the painting is intact with original paper and gallery sticker.

Everett Shinn, 1876-1953, NY & PA. This small jewel is oil on canvas. It is 12" by 16" unframed and 17 3/4" by 20 1/2" framed. It has been relined and is in good condition. The signature on lower left is difficult to see. It comes from a fine collection in Miami and was purchased at Sothby's. A prominent New York-based artist in the early 20th century, Everett Shinn was a Social Realist painter who focused on lower-class urban themes. Although his ongoing reputation seems to be for Social-Realist subjects, his real interest was in the theatre and in creating images celebrating the spectacle. As art director for Metro Goldwyn Mayer and other studios and wrote, produced and created scene designs for plays held at his own 55 seat theatre in his New York City home. Shinn was born in Woodstown, New Jersey, and studied industrial design and basic engineering at Spring Gardens Institute in Philadelphia. From 1893 to 1897, while working for a gas fixtures company in Philadelphia, he attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts as a student of Thomas Anshutz. He then worked as a staff artist for the Philadelphia Press with George Luks, William Glackens, and John Sloan, and this group, part of the future "Eight," centered around Robert Henri's Philadelphia studio. In 1897, Shinn began working for the New York Herald and shortly after started a series of murals including panels for the Stuyvesant Theater and industrial depictions for the Trenton, New Jersey City Hall. Based in New York, he traveled extensively. In 1949, he was elected an academician of the National Academy. He was known for urban genre, illustrator, mural, scenic design. John Costigan, N.A., American, NY, 1999-1972. This oil on canvasboard is 10" by 14" in a 2" frame. Overall dimensions are 14" by 18". It signed J.E. Costigan N.A. Verso it is signed again with the artist's name and address and is dated 1942. The colors and heavy impasto make this a beautiful dynamic painting.It is oil on canvasboard and is in good condition. Costigan has an extensive exhibition and award record at the Corcoran Gallery. His work is in the Museum of Modern Art, Cranbrook, Boston Museum among others.
