A Chinese censor table of classical style made of a hardwood called chicken-wing wood. The table dates to late 18th, early 19th Century. The table measures about 43" wide x 21" wide x 34" high. The condition is good, but the wood shows shrinkage at the sides of the top panel. The table, where it shows, was cleaned, and the underside was left uncleaned. There are no repairs or cracks to be noted. The table was bought, and imported from Hong Kong, about 20 years ago...

A small, low, Chinese table that was used on the Kang for eating, reading, writing, etc. The table has been decorated on all sides and on the legs with fax bamboo carvings. The table is made of hongmu, a tropical hard wood, that was very popular in the 19th Century. The table measures about 29 1/2" long x 10 3/4" tall x 16" wide, and dates to the Quangxu Period (1875-1908)...

A collection of a large porcelain peach and two citron (Buddha Hand) porcelain fruit. Such ceramic fruits were used to decorate a family alter when worshiping ones' ancestors. The peach measures about 4 1/4" long. The citrons measure 3 3/4" long and 4 1/2" long. The condition of all three fruit is excellent. All three pieces date to the late 19th Century. The bowl measures about 5 1/2" high x 9 3/4" in diameter and dates to the Ching Dynasty. The condition is very good with some interior kiln flaw and glaze crawl. A Collection of four medium sized porcelain boxes used to decorate the ancestral altar. The boxes are in the shape of a peach, a persimmon, a melon and a squash, and all have turquoise glazed interiors. Such boxes were used to hold trinkets and precious offerings when worshiping ones' ancestors. The peach measure 3" in diameter, The melon measures 3 1/4" in diameter, the persimmon measures 3 1/2" long, and the squash measures 3 3/4" long. The peach and melon are in excellent condition...

A metal box which contains an ink stone to grind ink sticks for writing. The box has been cast in light colored brass and has a copper bottom. The ink stone is secured in the lid with a spring frame. The top of the box shows a beautifully engraved lotus flower with leafs and a bud. There are also engraved Chinese characters which say the box was presented by a younger brother to his older brother. The box measures about 3 5/8" long x 2 3/8" wide x 1" tall. A Porcelain flambe Ox Blood water pot that was used by a Chinese Scholar during the late Ching Dynasty. This pot has streaks of black in the glaze and a crackle glaze in the interior and bottom. During the late 19th Century, glazes of this color could not be controlled in the kiln, and many pieces had to be broken from the kiln...

A Chinese porcelain brush washer with a flambe ox blood glaze and the splashed colors of red, white and blue. The pot was for the use of a scholar to clean his brush when doing calligraphy. The washer is six sided and measures about 2" tall x 2 1/2" in diameter. This is another example of the ox blood glaze, during the 19th Century, running in the kiln, which made in necessary to break the piece from the kiln.
