Inscribed with calligraphy in black, dated "ji hai" corresponding to 1899 and signed "Gao Xintian". Base with stamped iron red mark "Guangxu". Finely engraved small bronze altar of Vishnu with his consorts Shridevi and Bhudevi, cast in five parts. A large Japanese sashi netsuke carved from stag antler, depicting the mythical Chinese fisherman Ashinaga with his long legs. The face is carved very expressively and the natural himotoshi (cord hole) is running through his curled hair. Condition: nice patina. Dimension: 17.8 cm long.
