This crowned Ayutthaya Buddha is seated on lotus in Dhyana Mudra ( deep meditation ) and has a very gentle and serene expression.

A 13th.century ko seto Kamakura vase in elegantly-shaped meiping form, with a gradual outward curve on the shoulder, with short-knopped neck, incised beneath the greenish-yellow / olive glaze.

The box was added by our gallery 20 years ago. It was made by a tomobako artist, and there is written 'ko seto kamakura vase' if my memory does not fool me. The vase is decorated with kanji letters.

Marked on the bottom ( maybe a kiln mark ).

It is in good condition...

We offer from our private exhibition a Tibeto-Chinese large and heavy gilt bronze four faced Amitayus Buddha from the late Qing Dynasty ( 1644 - 1912 ).

The Amitayus ( Bodhisattva of Longevity ) is seated on double-lotus throne in dhyanasana and with both hands in dhyanamudra.

The statue is 17,1 inches high and 7,5kg heavy!

It is marked and in great condition.

This is an absolutely rare black Seto chawan ( setoguro chawan ) from the late Momoyama Period, which means the late 16th century or the changeover from Azuchi Momoyama to early Edo.

Blackish-brown glaze amalgamates with a wild and roughly thrown body. It is very heavy for a tea bowl, almost 500g. Please note that there is also an interesting kiln mark ( watch image number 3 )

Setoguro yaki is high-fired ware that originated in the late 16th century...

This beautiful chawan (tea bowl) was made in the oribe style, a more than four hundred year old tradition from the central part of Japan in the ancient Mino province.

That tradition was in part influenced by tea master and warrior Furuta Oribe (1545-1615) who developed his own style of tea ceremony. The bowl is very well made and in perfect condition. It dates from the mid Edo Period and has no repairs or damages except inborn kiln cracks...

Impressing black Raku tea bowl, signed Kichizaemon, of the Raku family.

The signed box is labeled “10th generation”, which means Tan-nyu (1795-1854). It represents true Japanese Chado, made from of one of the most famous potter clans in Japan. Most pieces of Kichizaemon Tan-nyu are hold in museums.
