Very good Staffordshire figural group portraying a young man and woman in a garden. He holds a floral wreath while she holds a potted rosebush. The decorative painting is very nice, especially the facial details.

A large, heavily potted English pitcher with an applied strap handle. All of the strong floral decoration is handpainted except for the blue flowers which where the paint was stamped on with a cut sponge. Though it could be earlier the later date of circa 1880 is conservative...

Circa 1870, brown transferware platter, Staffordshire Nanking pattern, by E. Challinor. In very good condition, there is some crazing commensurate with age and some staining, most notably on the back. Measures about 18 inches long, 14" high, and 1.5" deep. Hanger included.

A William Ridgway “Oriental” green transfer printed platter with a vaguely Middle Eastern fantasy scene in the well surrounded by a border of alternating floral bouquets and Middle Eastern buildings against a sprigged green ground. On the back the Ridgway mark of an urn and beehive over the subject name, “ORIENTAL.” and the initials, “WR.” printed in green. The initials for William Ridgway were used from 1830 to 1834...

A pearlware child’s mug with the stencil inscription in blue on the front, “A Gift from the Pottery,” in a cut corner rectangle with a seaweed surround. The top and bottom of the mug with a single blue band. The ends of the oval handle spread like a leaf. 2 1/8 inches (5.4 cm) tall, 3 ¼ inches (8.3 cm) across the handle.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Tiny rough spot on the lip and a little wear on the base...

A creamware mug, probably Liverpool, with a black transfer printed scene of a farm cottage with gate and outside the fence two men standing in front of a loaded one-horse cart. The oval transfer surrounded by foliage. Though much creamware was earlier it remained popular into the nineteenth century. 3 ¾ inches tall and 4 3/8 inches across the handle.

A creamware mug with a black transfer depicting two men walking across a bridge over a stream that pours into a peaceful river with a sailboat and boat with freight steered by a man in the stern. In the distance people on a point of land and in the far distance, beyond bends in the river, the top of an obelisk shows against the horizon. The oval transfer appears as if it was slightly too tall for the mug, being cut off at the bottom. It is otherwise framed with a laurel leaf surround...

A group of five small pottery figures, four of people and one of a very smush faced lion. All painted in what look like both overglaze and underglaze colors. This type of figure was two part molded and produced in quantity. The tallest is 5 inches tall. These figures date to the first quarter of the 19th century.

Condition: All have some chips and the man with his head leaning on one hand has had the base repaired.

A beautiful English creamware plate decorated with violet swags with green trim along the rim of the plate and the edges of the swags. Aside from being of unusual structure, the violet color is rare, and the presence of a second color extremely rare.

A very nicely painted Pratt Ware cottage decorated with a blue tiled roof, children at the windows with an oversize female standing beside it. On one end of the cottage is a woman with a cornucopia (?) and on the other a flowering tree. At the back in the roof is a slot for large pennies. The colors are well applied. Very nice dark blue Staffordshire transferware plate in the “Bear” pattern from the “Quadruped” series by Hall. The plate depicts a river otter catching a salmon in the central reserve, surrounded by shield-shaped reserves depicting (from top going clockwise) a hedgehog and a mole, a pair of rabbits, a seal, and a civet and genet...

An exceptionally attractive transferware bowl in the Milanese Pavilion pattern having fruit and floral images around the rim while two elegantly attired ladies converse on the pavilion. The back stamp bears the J H & Co mark of Joshua Heath & Co and dates to c. 1840 While the bowl is visually magnificent, it has a 2 3/4" hairline crack for which we have drastically reduced the price and for which we would consider reasonable offers. A rare pair of Pearlware pottery figures depicting Venus and Neptune made in Staffordshire during either the late 18th or very early 19th Century. A similar pair of figures are illustrated in "The price Guide to 18th Century English Pottery" by Sally Mount, published by the Antique Collectors' Club (1972). Condition: there are some losses to the enamel colours; no cracks, no repairs and no restoration. 23.5cm (9.25 inches) high.

A transfer printed, hand colored and gilt large mug with Japanese inspired patterns on two sides, an elaborate decoration on the inside rim and a brown edge at the top. Blue printed mark on the bottom. The body is hand thrown, but the handle is molded. Circa 1820. 4 5/8 (12 cm) tall 5 1/8 (13 cm) diameter body, with handle 7 inches (18 cm) diameter.

A large tyg with hand painted apples and leaves with green dental banding and green dashes on the three handles. The tyg, or loving cup, is a popular form for Wemyss. Marked with impressed “WEMYSS WARE” in an arch over “R.H.&S.” 7 ½ inches tall, 87/8 inch diameter at base. Handles are about 2 ¼ inches out from the body.

A Staffordshire punch bowl decorated with both freehand painting and the transfer of the Chinese ladies and part of the fence in the center of the bowl. The border and the four sprays that decorate the outside of the bowl are all hand painted, as is the pink lustre mountain behind the ladies. The decoration is bright and cheerful. 9 ½ inches diameter, 4 ½ inches tall.

A wonderful example of this well-known and highly collected historical Staffordshire scene. This plate is 6 3/4" in diameter, with the impressed Clews mark on the reverse. The condition is superb, with deep color, high clarity, sparkling glaze, and no chips, cracks, scratches, or restoration. It is as fine an example as one could hope for.

A 'mirror' pair of antique 19th Century pottery greyhounds (each holding a hare) made in Staffordshire circa 1860 - 1870. Condition: excellent. 19cm (7.5 inches) high; 20cm (8 inches) long.

A pair of Ironstone plates with Chinese style decoration of a willow tree, a Chinese fence and flowers. With a lobed edge they have an elaborate border between the rim and the center of the plate. The blue is underglaze decoration while the colors and gilding were applied after the glaze. The underside with the Royal Warrant, “STONE CHINA/No. 7.” 8 ¼ inch (21 cm) diameter.

A fine example from the Quadrupeds Series, manufactured, primarily for the American market, by John Hall between 1802 and 1832. This particular piece depicts the pronghorn antelope, with a beaver, otter, coyote, and raccoon in the cartouches at the edge of the plate. Marked on the reverse a printed "Hall Quadrupeds".

The plate is 8" in diameter and is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration, and having the desirable deep blue ripple glaze.
