A charming hooked rug depicting a woman holding a flower and sitting in a chair beside a large kettle over an open fire. The wall behind her shows a painting and a window through which can be seen a church. Rugs of this size and this period showing an interior scene are quite uncommon.

A folky miniature portrait painting of a young man. With his stylish hairdo, high collar, and patterned vest, and pin, the gentleman exemplifies a dandy of the time. The blue hues in the background provide a striking contrast to the relatively monochromatic tones of the sitter.

The miniature is 2 3/8" by 1 3/4" and is housed in its original 2 1/2" by 2" brass case, which also has a lock of hair in the rear aperture. Condition is excellent, with no cracks, bowing, or paint flaking.

I bet her kitchen smells like homemade bread and biscuits. This doll lets you know she is strong and capable and isn't afraid of work. This is one of the most vibrant and spectacular splint baskets you are likely to encounter. The chrome yellow paint is complemented by the deep red wrapping at the top and on the wood handle. Found in Pennsylvania, it has a 9 1/4" diameter, is 6 3/4" tall not including the handle, and 11" tall including the handle.

The paint is all original with no loss, and the structural integrity is pristine, with no breaks.

This ancient bellows, 9 pounds in weight and 50 inches long, 15 inches across at the widest point, appears to be of Pennsylvania origin, (judging from the colorful "hex" symbol associated with furniture from the area). I am hardly a specialist in Pennsylvania folk art, but thought the hex symbol would permit this to be safely placed in that category...

DESCRIPTION: Beautiful melon-shaped split oak basket with a sturdy bentwood handle and oak-wrapped wide rim. This early 1900’s folk art basket is in great condition with no major losses noted. DIMENSIONS: 18" long x 14.5" wide; height with handle is 13.75", without is 8.75".

An unusual foil, or tinsel, painting depicting two birds hovering over a large flowering plant. The painting is done basically in tones of taupe and green. The frame is period and is most likely original. The back is sealed with paper that appears to have been a student's calligraphy practice.
