Chinese pair of huanghuali wood official's hat chairs. Simply and smoothly carved with a cusped edge on the front legs. Rattan seats. Provenance: from the collection of the Santa Barbara Museum, California. (Note regarding the Museum label: little was known about Chinese hardwoods at the time this label was made. Thus the wood is mislabeled "cherry wood").

Beautiful flame mahogany dressing table with marble top, all in excellent original condition. This lovely table is transitional from Empire to Victorian, circa 1870. It has a shell stretcher, and perfectly matched flame mahogany drawers. It measures approximately 73 1/2" tall x 39 1/2" wide x 23" deep.

An antique Japanese Kotansu for traveling administrators made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute style handles. Unusual dual opening drawer allowed two administrators on each side of the tansu to access the same drawers and supplies. Family crest on the door.

Japanese keyaki bar tansu with original finish, kiri leaf shaped lock on top drawer, bar opens with one key. Dimensions: 24.25" High x 29.5" Long x 20.75" Deep

English hand painted Polychrome floral decorated on Satinwood Foot Stool, 8 1/2" high, 14" x 10 3/4" wide on top frame, with tapered Sheraton style leg with more hand painted decoration of broad leaf, and removable seat frame, lift the seat from the frame and change the fabric, the entire foot stool frame is all original. There are some wear and tear on wood.

A large Chinese Elm Wood Altar Table/Console with nice detailed carvings, 19th Century. Good condition, size: L. 243 cm. x H. 104.5 cm x D. 34 cm. (95.5" x 41" x 13.5").

A rare antique Japanese Tansu chest called Kodansu. Its purpose was for use as a merchant's side chest where trade records, documents, papers and business tools were stored. The front and case were made using burl Keyaki (Zelkova) wood with Hinoki (Cypress) wood completing the rest of the chest. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery with hardened wood nails...

An antique Tibetan storage trunk with center dragon motif surrounded by an intricate textile pattern. Stylized Vajra metal clasp on cover with two iron ring hinges securing the top to the body.

Plate in cast bronze, hot gilded with mercury, representing an antique chariot drawn by 2 horses guided by a female Greek deity. The chariot flies in the clouds and in front of the horses a child pours water from his watering can. The quality is exceptional, designs of sublime elegance, perfect casting, excellent carving and finitions a very thick mercury gilding. We see on the back of the plaque the remains of two prominent iron fixings...

An antique Japanese Ikebana bamboo basket in a long gourd inspired wall pocket design. Vertical ribbed herringbone weave that ends in a star crossed base. Side opening has a metal receptacle where water was kept and flowers were displayed. Upper opening allowed for long stem flowers to be showcased.

An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware and aged patina finish. Warabite style handles. Straight dovetail Japanese joinery and hardened wood nails were incorporated into its design. Five drawers with a hinged security door that behind hides two small drawers.

DESCRIPTION: A Spanish carved oak buffet a deux corps (buffet or hutch with the top cabinet having a shallower depth than the bottom), 19th C. The carved cavetto molding crowns double lattice work cupboard doors with hand forged iron hinges which open to reveal two interior shelves. These are set on a base with a frieze drawer over double cupboard doors, also with iron hinges, each carved with a six point flower set within a circle...

A fantastic mid to late 19th C. American walnut slant front desk with glass doors for the book case and solid doors for lower storage. It has interior drawers and cubby spaces. Red felt on the desk. Detail applied foliate moldings, and a brass candlestick holder. It is in over all very good to excellent condition. Expect some wear and tear for this 150 year old beauty.

Exquisite Alexander Roux bed circa 1850 in the gothic/rococo style. Roux was born in France and emigrated to New York where he became one of the most sought after cabinet makers of American Victorian furniture. The bed measures 7'9" tall x 7'4" long x 4'8" wide. It will make a wonderful addition to any collector or any lover of American Victorian furniture.
