An incredible blackstone finial from a sceptre or macehead, Pre-columbian Moche Culture, ca. 4th.-7th. cent. AD.

An exceptional piece decorated with 4 figures in each corner of the trapezoid carving; they are holding on their belly with both hands and each is wearing a headdress. The space between the figures decorated with a pattern of oval depressions. The finial hollowed in the center for mounting it as a club or sceptre.

This is an extremely fine frame of bone artifacts which includes needles, awls, pendants, harpoons, spoon and arrowheads. The harpoons are from New England. I purchased the flute from Tom Davis. He said it was the best he had ever seen. Most are from Tom Davis, Gilbert Cooper and Michael Hough. The large center arrowhead is a deassentioned piece from a Colorado museum with COA and paperwork. A fantastic and very rare massive ritual spearpoint in black obsidian, Pre-Columbian or early colonial Mexico, likely Aztec manifacture, 14th.-16th. century.

The spearpoint made of one full flaking block of obsidian, with central unknapped areas to use its full size.

Mexican Pre Columbian Tlatilco Terracotta face fragment with large nose. Rare fragment from an early culture c 1200bc-600bc. A Teotihuacan stone figure made of a spinach colored green stone. A typical rigid body with squared-off shoulders, straight arms draped to the hips with incisions to denote fingers and toes, a flattened head marked by deep crescent in-cut eyes and mouth. It is drilled at the nose and through the earrings and wears a rectangular peaked cap. Measures 8" in height and on a presentation stand. Provenance: Leonard Kaplan Collection, Laguna Beach, CA.

A small Hopi Kachina Doll hand carved and painted by Wilson Tewaquaptewa circa 1930-1940, with chicken feathers. Tewaquaptewa (1871-1960) was the last chief of Old Oraibi. He produced Kachina dolls which are a combination of many dolls and figments of his own imagination. He believed that you didn't carve actual Kachinas for the tourist market. Of the over 10,000 artifacts that the late world famous Dr. Allen Heflin found, this little miniature hand-molded ceramic figurine ranks among the rarest. It is from the unattributed Preclassic Period, C1200-900BC. It is 1 7/8" long and in superb condition except for a small ding to the left breast. It still has traces of red pigment. Heflin found this little treasure on 8-12-60 and is so marked on the back. It is from Cuautitlan. She is wearing ear spools.
