An ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1000 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 1/2” long (13 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Hand-formed statuette of a small bird on a high foot. Compact head with pointed beak and hinted comb. Tiny punctures for the eyes and around the neck. The short body is followed by a broad, fanned tail with transverse and longitudinal grooves for the feathers.

Ancient Egyptian large black-topped Redware Vase, pre-Dynastic Naqada I period, c. 3750 BC. It's intact but shows signs of use, especially inside, from contents being stirred. It is 10" (25.4 cm) tall. It is authentic and nearly 6,000 years old.
A fine bronze standard finial of the "Master of Animals" type, worked on both sides identically. A tube in anthropomorphic form showing a human with a long nose and jutting ears, grasping the necks of two animals. The center of the figure with a human mask and two protruding cock's heads. An ancient Roman marble hand, with defined fingers and fingernails. Hand grasping, what appears to be remains of a dagger. With extensive remains of encrustations. 1st-3rd century AD. From a NYC private collection. Said to be purchased on the London art market in the late 1990s. 3 1/2 inches wide X 4 1/4 inches high. Mounted.
Discus fragment of a lamp decorated with the half-figure of a satyr holding a thyrsus and blowing a flute. The youthful figure wears a deer skin with the hooves of the animal knotted behind his shoulder.
Rare depiction. Detailed rendering of the head and the anatomical details. Covered with an orange-brown slip.
