This is a very early specimen of a bronze dagger or spear from the ancient middle East. It is solid and stable with only minor losses. It has a plain blade and tang typical of the earliest pieces from the region. It weighs 162 grams and measures roughly 20 cm in length. This is a great piece to start off your collection or to pick up a very early type at a reasonable price.
This is an interesting bronze spear head from ancient Persia. It is similar to items attributed to the Luristan culture ca 1200 BC. This is a heavy and robust weapon with no signs of damage, repair or restoration. It has a square shaft, rectangular "tail" and leaf-shaped blade. This piece weighs 281 grams and measures roughly 31 cm. This is an excellent specimen for any ancient weapons collection.
This is quite an unusual mace head from ancient Persia, likely dating to around 1200 BC. It is decorated with incised linear patterns and small spikes. There are 5 spikes on each of three segments. This piece came from a large private collection of axes and spears. It is solid and stable with no apparent repairs or restorations. It weighs 418 grams and measures roughly 13 cm in length.
This is a wonderful but plain little copper alloy or bronze axe head from the ancient middle East. Types like this are often associated with either the Amlash or Luristan cultures. This piece has three raised ridges on the socket. It is intact, solid and stable with no repair or restoration. It weighs 230 grams and measures 12.5 cm across. This is a fine example of ancient craftsmanship at a very low price. Don't miss it!!!!
This is a fantastic example of an ancient bronze mace head. This piece was part of a large collection of bronze weapons from the middle East. There are four radial spike protruding from the head. The socket is hollow and slightly flared near the bottom. There is a perforation for attaching the socket to a shaft. This piece weighs 222 grams and measures just under 10 cm. Mace heads like this are very rare and quite desirable for collectors. This piece won't last long!!
This is a very unique copper alloy or bronze axe head. It is possibly Elamite in origin. It appears to be an early piece based on the reddish brown patina that is typical of high copper content pieces. It does appear to have been cleaned at some point. The socket is rectangular. There is a perforation on either side of the socket for attachment to the shaft pole. There is also a perforation in the rear blade which may or may not be original to the piece...
This is a very unusual, decorated bronze axe head from Northern Iran. I have not seen an axe of this exact type before. It has a reddish brown patina that is typical of earlier bronze or copper age pieces. The overall design and decoration is quite unique as is obvious in the photos. This piece weighs 276 grams and measures nearly 12 cm across. Such an unusual piece will not last long so don't miss it!
This is a beautiful ancient bronze axe head from Norther Iran ca 1200 BC. It has very thick and flared blades. The socket has a raised ring or ridge around it and underneath both blades are three raised lines cast into the bronze. This is quite an unusual type acquired from a large private collection. It weighs 611 grams and measures 16 cm across. This piece is a must for any ancient weapon collection.
This is another in a series of interesting ancient bronze axes recently acquired from a private collection. It has a deep red patina typically associated with early, high copper content tools and weapons. It is very solid and stable with only minor losses to the surface. Axes of this type are often associated with Amlash or Luristan cultures but this one has some interesting features not found on most...
This is a very special offering of a small bronze axe from ancient Iran (circa 1200-1500 BC). It has minor losses to the horizontal blade and shows some pitting. These small axes seem to be a good bit more rare than their larger counterparts. This came as part of a large private collection and as a result I can offer it at much less than what these pieces usually sell for. I doubt that this one will be here for very long. It weighs 108 grams and measures just 9 cm in length.
This bronze axe head is from ancient Iran and dates to around 1500 BC. Similar examples are attributed to either the Amlash or Luristan cultures. This particular specimen has two rings around the socket. It has light green patina. It is solid and stable but does have a small dent and perforation in the socket area that is visible in the photos. It weighs 513 grams and measures roughly 14 cm in length. This is a prime specimen of ancient bronze craftsmanship at a very reasonable price...

Measurements: Length: 3.5 cm - Height: 1 cm

For thousands of years, since before recorded history, man has worn amulets and talismans for luck and protection. The stones, feathers, teeth and claws that adorned early cultures eventually gave way to an array of amulets whose powers were as varied as their forms...
This extremely rare frame of bone is from the 1st century through Byzantine. The Roman goddess has independent movable balls in the cage and is extremely delicate and very fine. It was purchased in Luxembourg. Many were found by the world famous Dr. Allen Heflin while he was stationed in Rome. This is a once-in-a-lifetime find that took me many years to assemble. It is intact with no evidence of repair.

This marvelous piece of ancient pottery is an offering vessel, sometimes referred to as a "spirit jar", from roughly the Five Dynasties period (907-960 AD) of Classic Imperial China. These intriguing vessels first appeared to Western collectors around the turn of the century and were quite a delightful find. Appearing in the ruins of a long forgotten monastery near Kunming, hundreds of these jars were discovered in many sites in and around Yunnan...
Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this ancient Greek terracotta figure of a Boeotian maiden (possible Aphrodite) from the Classical Period. She stands on a rectangular plinth with her left hand on her stomach and her right hand resting on what is possibly the edge of a piece of furniture or the top of a large jug. She wears a garment that ancient Greek women at the height of the Classical period wore with a nicely styled beaded necklace and flowing hair...
This week I am posting several Bronze Age weapons from the Middle East including a set of 5, very unique, crescent-hilt daggers from the Marlik culture (circa 1000 BC). These all came from the same private collection. For a nearly identical example see "Arms and Armor from Iran" by Manoucher Khorasani p 50 figure 1 and page 53. This specimen appears to have been cleaned partially so I have included a 35X micrograph of an area of the surface showing crystallization common on ancient bronze...

This type of bronze weapon is generally designated as a short sword. It has a substantial midrib with tapering edges. The edges are concave in the upper part and gracefully draw into spikes or wings that extend around either side of the tang. Weapons of this type are found in Northwestern Iran and most likely date to around the 9th century BC. “Weapons of this type [are] widely represented in the Ghaletenti I cemetery in Dailiman.” (“Arms and Armor from Iran” by Manouchehr M. Khorasani,...
This is an ancient bronze short sword from Northwestern Iran. It has a choice, predominantly blue patina mottled with green and red. The lower half of the hilt is basically ovoid in hape with a lappet-flanged area on both broad surfaces. Flanged areas often held inlays of wood or bone but a lappet flange of this type was probably a decoration in and of itself. The upper half of the hilt is also ovoid but with the broad surfaces oriented perpendicular to the lower half.
This piece has a bifur...

This is a very nice bronze dagger or spear blade from the ancient near East - probably from Northern Iran circa 1200 BC or earlier. It has a thin, flat blade with a reinforced midrib. It has a perforation in the tang which is covered by the patina. It also has some slight bending in the blade which is why I have listed it for such a low price. It does not appear to be damaged or repaired in any other way. It measures roughly 23 cm in length and weighs 84 grams.

This is a decorated bronze axle hub pin from the Warring States period in ancient China (circa 475 BC). This pin weighs 80 grams and measures just over 8 cm in length. It was recovered from the same site as the decorated axle hub that I have listed (item # 732555) Since it does not quite fit that axle hub, I am selling the two pieces separately. The size and type of this pin are consistent with what would have been used on the listed hub and they would look great displayed together. There will ...

This is a fine example of a plain bronze sword likely from Northwestern Iran, possible the Luristan culture. It dates to roughly 1000 BC. It measures an impressive 48 cm in length and weighs 356 grams. The only apparent damage is in what appears to be a broken tang. The break appears ancient as well. The rest of the sword is intact and stable. This is a good piece to add to your ancient weapon collection.
This is a nice little dagger from the collection of the late John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo's tag will stay with the item. It weighs 42 grams and measures nearly 17cm. It has three rivet perforations in the handle. It does not appear to have any repair and seems fairly solid. This is a good chance to own an inexpensive piece from the Piscopo collection.

This magnificent bronze figure is a representation of the god Osiris, a revered figure in Ancient Egyptian mythology. This figure dates back to the Late Period, between the 7th and 4th centuries B.C. The figure depicts Osiris in his mummified form, wearing an impressive Atef crown adorned with the Uraeus, a symbol of royalty and divine power. His braided beard, which curves at the tip, is a symbol of his wisdom and agelessness. He holds the royal regalia Crock and Flail in his hands, which symbo...
This is a remarkably well preserved black pottery vessel from the early Khmer culture. It dates to at least 600AD and is possibly much older. It is roughly 19 cm tall. It shows no signs of repair or restoration. There are traces of root fibers on parts of the surface and what looks like calcification on the surface of the base. This is a great opportunity to own a rare piece of Ancient Asia at a terrific price.
This is an awesome ancient Persian sword with a bronze handle and iron blade. The iron blade is still largely intact and stable. It is truly incredible for an iron blade to last the nearly 3000 years since its manufacture in circa 900 BC. This exceptional piece is 46.7 cm in length. You can see the rivets in the handle where it is attached to the blade. This is an excellent opportunity to add a truly unique sword to your collection.
This is a very well preserved bronze sword or dagger from ancient Luristan (circa 1000BC). Overall this piece is in great condition. The flanges on the handle that would have held the inlaid bone, wood or ivory grip are mostly intact (except for one) which is fairly unusual for this type of weapon. This piece measures 353mm and weighs 135 grams. It has a choice, olive patina and no signs of repair.
