An extremely rare scarab seal, carved as an Udjat eye in grey-brown steatite, Egypt, New Kingdom, c. 15th.-14th. cent.

The eye is carved with great artistry, to creat a perfect Udjat eye with fine details and on the base, three strong hieroglyphs of the Ankh for giving Life the Uraeus and erect Cobra and lastly the flat Sun-disc.

The Ureaeus was the symbol of the Godess Wadjet and was used as a sign of Royal authority associated with Pharaos and gods...

Reddish limestone. Animal battle scene with crossing bulls and crescent moon standard, worshippers in between. A larger seal in an attractive red-orange stone. Isin-Larsa period, Old Babylonian, ca. 2002-1594 BC.

Height 26 mm and diameter is 13 cm., so fairly thick.

Condition: Very fine, smooth wear but intact with a nice patina.

Provenance: The Karl Müller collection, Germany 1950-1977. Comes with COA and his imprint.

Ancient Egyptian large black-topped Redware Vase, pre-Dynastic Naqada I period, c. 3750 BC. It's intact but shows signs of use, especially inside, from contents being stirred. It is 10" (25.4 cm) tall. It is authentic and nearly 6,000 years old.

Mosaic glass pendant in the shape of a bearded head, surmounted by a large loop for attachment to a necklace. Phenicia, or Carthage, archaic period, 350 to 200 B.C. Height: 6.1 cm. Barely visible old accident, superbly restored, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: similar pendants are shown in the Antique Glass Collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris. This is an ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1250 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup. It was chipped by the artisan maker, who then used glaze to lock the piece back in place when it was fired.
