This is a nice bronze spear from the Luristan culture of ancient Iran. It measures 280mm and weighs 141 grams. It has a nice "as found" patina. It is very heavy, solid and stable. It has a typical leaf shape with a thick midrib. It is slightly bent but shows no signs of repair.
Nice suite of three faiance items, inc. two Djetpillar amulets in torquise and Egyptian blue pierced for suspension, together with a large faiance bead or fertility amulet (?), Late period, c. 660-332 BC.
Size: 23, 15 and 12 mm. long for each.
Condition: All are completely intact.
Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973)...

Egyptian terracotta fragment of Harpocrates riding a horse, whose mane can be guessed on the right.
The youthful god is dressed in a short tunic and wears a stippled floral wreath topped by the Egyptian double crown. Harpokrates is shown with the right forefinger to his mouth.

Ram's horn on bottom upon which a rearing ureas cobra is perched, with gaps probably originally containing inlays, crowned with the solar disc; the cobra flanks a large, curling ostrich plume with multiple horizontal incised lines. This is a fine ancient Egyptian Scarab, 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 7/16” long (11 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup. The bottom is a scarab pushing up the sun, with cobras on either side.
