This is a beautiful and rare copper alloy dagger from the Dong Son culture of southeast Asia circa 250 BCE. It has an attractive patina that belies its high tin content alloy. The edges of the blade are chipped as is common for the brittle nature of high tin content bronze objects. The remaining metal appears to be solid and stable with no signs of repair or restoration. Interesting collection of a faience Shu amulet and a book from the property of Lord Grenfell. Francis Grenfell was an interesting person with a very exciting life. The book „The Sacred Beetle: A Popular Treatise on Egyptian Scarabs in Art and History“, by John Ward has a personal dedication from the author to Lord Grenfell from 1903.

Ancient Egyptian blue faience scarab ensemble. Comprising of the beetle scarab in the center, flanked by the faïence wings. Late Period, 600-400 B.C. Scarab measures 2 inches long X 1 1/4-inch wide, left-wing measures 2 inches wide, right-wing measures 1 3/4 inches wide with small chip on tip. Scarab and wings not part of an original set. This is an absolutely amazing bronze sword from the Dong Son culture in ancient Southeast Asia. Pieces of this type are rarely discovered intact. It is very long (81.5 cm) and though it is thin and fragile it appears to be intact with no obvious signs of repair. It dates to roughly 300 BC. This is a marvelous opportunity to own a truly stunning antiquity.

An ancient Egyptian deep blue faience scarab, inscribed with a beetle (kheper) and flail. New Kingdom, 1550 –1070 3/4 inch. Intact.

This piece is a nice example of a rat-tail dagger from the ancient middle East. It has a subtle, wide midrib and flattened blade. The tang is rectangular. There is no damage or repair to the piece and it is in overall excellent condition. The weight of the piece is 132 grams and the length is roughly 23 cm. This is a great opportunity to acquire a quality antiquity at a reasonable price.

For your consideration is this fabulous and large, 18th Dynasty, New Kingdom, black steatite scarab. Terracotta figure of a seated baboon, animal sacred to Thot, the Egyptian god of writing and other intellectual pursuits.
Crisp facial features with pronounced supra-orbital ridges, deep set eyes and a dominant, protruding muzzle. The cheek fur and the upper body cape are typical for male baboons. The genitalia are exposed.

A pair of ancient pendant from the Egyptian late-Ptolemaic Period, after 600 BC.

Both amulets are pierced horisontically to be worn as pendants. One is of the seated Bastet as a Cat (2,1 cm.), the other is a head of a human god or Pharao (2,5 cm.).

Serapis was an Egyptian god whose devotees united the worship of the Apis bull and the god Osiris. His cult, which originated at Memphis, rose to its greatest significance at Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy I.

The back and part of the lower portion is missing, however the front containing the cartouche of the pharaoh is still intact.
