Statue of a taoist dignitary, in formal attire, standing on an elevated hexagonal base on which a relief representing a reclining animal is carved. Two votive boxes at the back, both with missing lid. China, Ming Dynasty period. The statue is mounted on a stand. height (without stand): 31,5 cm. A few missing parts at the lower side of the base and at the back of the head, with no real damage to the general aspect of the statue, otherwise very good condition.

Chinese soapstone carving of a scene from a folk tale: the famous Tang Dynasty poet, Meng Haoran (689-740) ventures out into the snow with his young attendant in search of plum blossoms in the snowy hills. In finding this hint of early spring, he hoped to find inspiration for his poems. They see an amazing plum tree starting it's bloom in the cold of late winter...

Charming Chinese acrobat in a handstand atop a natural rootwood base. The acrobat is hand carved out of boxwood. He wears shorts tied at the waist and a pair boots. His hair is tied back and he has a goatee. Very finely carved. It is from the Ching Dynasty, 19th century. It measures 27 tall, about 18" wide at the base. Excellent original condition.

Very well crafted Sino-Tibetan gilded cast bronze figure of Buddha, seated in a lotus position upon a lotus base; dressed in a finely relief robe and a censer in one hand. Circa 19th century era. Antique Chinese figure of the goddess Quanyin seated with a child on her lap. Made of bronze and lacquered in red then black lacquer, this statue was once completely covered in gold. The goddess of compassion sits with one hand delicately balanced on her knee. The other hand holds the hand of the tiny girl-child in her lap. Both goddess and child are sculpted with beautiful expressions and naturalistic details. Qing Dynasty. Size: 24" high x 17" wide x 14" deep.

This is a rare large chinese porcelain Guanyin statue dating to the Qing Dynasty. The statue is sitting on a lotus base, right hand putting on the front of the chest, left hand holding a bottle. The face expression looks very serious and sincerely. Great item.
