The god is represented standing, holding a peach in one hand and a stick ending in a mushroom Ling-zhi in the other, all the attributes of long life. The carving is precise, as can be judged by the regular parallelism of the hairs of the beard. This frame has the best fine carvings in minute detail of any Canton worked frame we have ever seen. It has adult and young Kylin animals along with figures, including a friar, in a central medallion, the finest carved pillars separating each lower photo area...

Massive Chinese late Qing dynasty finely carved root wood figural group mounted on a tripod root wood stand featuring the immortal Li Tieguai (“Iron Crutch Li”) in a dancing pose at the center flanked by two immortals. Li Tieguai holds an unidentified object in one hand while the attendants each hold a peach. Arms, legs, some heads, and the figures themselves can all be removed from the stand to facilitate shipping. Circa 1900. 52” high. Good overall condition...

This carved hardwood cup is 5” high, 4 ½” wide, 3 3/4” thick (both measured from the top). It is an early 20th century product. It depicts three sages surrounded by a river scene. Two sages and their young servant are on a boat; one sage is standing on the river bank. A huge rock, an old pine tree and some unknown trees make the scene very peaceful. Aside from a few small crack lines due to the age of the wood, it is in great condition.
