A good Arita vase of bulbous ovoid form decorated with three panels featuring traditional kacho-ga motifs, birds and flowers, including Chrysanthemums, Camelias and Peonies. The neck and shoulder of the vase decorated with horizontal bands of palisade like vertical stripes and stylised overlapping petals. Each panel divided by a stylised Lotuses with kara kusa scrolls, and the base decorated with a simple saw tooth pattern...

A circular dish with slightly everted rim decorated with a landscape freize to the cavetto. The pattern is split into equal halves, by a zigzagging screen wall on one side, and an S shaped motif with ruyi cloud shaped motifs. The first portion of the design shows a pair of scholar’s playing Go sitting beneath a Bodri Tree set in a landscape with a scholar’s refuge cum tea house and oddly oversized autumn flowers, kikyo, bell flowers, and suisen, Japanese narcissus...

A lovely Japanese porcelain Imari bowl with 2 ho-ho birds in the center symbolizing yin yang. Two more elaborate birds are painted on the inside panels. Unusual to find a decagonal bowl, it is in excellent antique condition with expected wear to the gold trim on the rim. Measures 7" (17.8 cm) across by 3" (7.6 cm) high. Signed on bottom. Dates 1700

Porcelain dish from japan, arita, kakiemon kilns. end of the 17th century. Decor in the center of phoenixes, rocks and peonies in overglaze enamels and underglaze cobalt blue (which is unusual for Kakiemon). On the edge, decoration of the three friends, bamboo, pine and prunus, by fantasy the artist added chrysanthemums. On the reverse the apocryphal mark of the Chinese emperor Tcheng-hoa. A Japanese porcelain plate decorated with a dignitary beneath a parasol, attended by his servant, in a garden. The cavetto is unusually decorated with a continuous landscape, a device not often encountered on Arita porcelain. The use of linear shading is reminiscent of Chinese “Master of the Rocks” style. The back is entirely plain with four spur marks within the foot-rim. Arita, circa 1680~1700.

A Japanese Export heart-shaped dish with an European harbour scene by Frederik Van Frytom. Arita 1680 ~ 1700. Frederik Van Frytom was a notable painter in 17th century Holland who was commissioned to produce Delft pottery samples for copying at Arita. This dish is a copy of one of a special set of five Delft dishes that were taken to Japan in 1684 and used in the tea ceremony. The moulded shape of the dish is reminiscent of silver tableware...

The central reserve superbly painted in sansui landscape of mountainous cliffs overhanging a body of water with two small fishing boats. The cavetto of the bowl decorated with the shochikubai, the Three Friends of Winter. The reverse decorated with krakusa with chrysanthemum form blooms, symbols of longevity...
