This is traditional Bugaku- clothes of the Edo era. This is the form that is traditional in silk twill fabrics. It has two extremely small holes. There are no stain and damage. The pattern is Ganryo- dyeing. It can be hardly exhibited at the market. Size 193cm x 186cm (75.9 "x 73.2")

This is chirimen-silk yuzen-dye and Embroidery yogi kimono in Edo period(1800-1867)Very rare.This yuzen-dye yogi kimono is a museum class.It all is expressed with embroidery and yuzen-dye. It is wonderful beautiful kimono. It does not have a stain. There is a small hole in several places. There is the part which a thread of the embroidery came off. This is an original Japanese antique silk children's kimono from the Meiji period (1868-1911). It has a lovely bamboo leaf design. There are no noticeable stains. It is in good condition. At that time, children wore cotton kimonos as their everyday clothes. A luxurious silk kimono that could only be worn on special occasions. This is a layer of stencil-dyed cotton and indigo-dyed plain cotton, with hand-stitched stitches all over...

Cotton cloth with katazome pattern which is called "Narumi-Kongata", imitating Arimatsu-Narumi shibori pattern. It is called "Urumi-zome among craftspeople. It uses plural stencils and requires high dyeing technique. In good condition but has two mending patches for the cut which used to be the neck part and in one side of selvedges. Early 1900 Japanese silk fukusa featuring a turtle and a crane. Techniques used to create this wonderful fukusa are sumi-e hand painting, yuzen resist dying, some embroidery, and gold foil couching. On the reverse is red rinzu silk with crane and mons motif. Two original tassels are still intact at the bottom. There is a small cluster of tiny gray spots by the crane, see last photo. Otherwise, in very good condition/excellent, it measures 25” wide x 27” high.

This is a very rare tattered boro textile with a lot of Japanese antique natural Persimmon astringent dyed brown and indigo dye hemp patched with sashiko stitches. The vintage old cloth, which has been repaired and used many times and has faded, is a wonderful work of art in itself and can be enjoyed on both sides. Japanese cotton hanten made of indigo-dyed cotton for a child. Decorated with a paste resist design of joyful, spinning pinwheel-like motifs. A large red character on the back and four more in white on the front collar.

This is Dramatic Hagoromo Motif kabuki Uchikake kimono in the late Edo period.(1800-1867) It all is expressed with embroidery. It is wonderful beautiful uchikake kimono. It does not have a stain. It has few small small holes in lining cloth. It has the portion from which slight embroidery separated. However, it is not conspicuous. Its design is bold and artistic! It is really an wearable art! This is very a haori coat of the patchwork of the paper and silk of the highest class in Edo period(1800-1867) . This is an item of a rare museum class. The print is massaged by the hand. (chirime-hanga)The haori coat that sews and matched the print and silk. The check on the part of the sleeve is Akita hachijyo. The lining is silk and cotton. There is no stain. Rice bag made of hand-spun and vegetable indigo dye cotton fragments which are kasuri, katazome (stencil-resist dye) stripes etc. It was used when people dedicated rice or other grains to temples or shrines. It has beautiful fine katazome cotton cloth for lining. In good condition but string in the hem is damaged and cord for binding is lost. 19th to early 20th century. W:37cm, H:27.5cm

Wa-sarasa futonji made of cotton and dyed with pigments. Wa-sarasa is Japanese calico which is first made in Edo period immitating calico from abroad and stencil-resit dye or woodblock print. The product places were Nabeshima (Saga Pref. in Kyushu), Sakai (Osaka), Nagasaki (Kyushu) etc, however it is not clear where this futonji was made. In excellent condition. The latter half of the 19th century. 130cm x 168cm

Asa (hemp) wrapping cloth with hand-drawn tsutsugaki noshi design. Noshi is an auspicious motif which used to be flattened abalone strips and was decorated on a gift. The wefts and warps are both hand-plied. It is colored with pigments. In good condition except for some wear and stains. 19th century. 84cm x 103.5cm

Antique Japanese textile decorated with a design of tea ceremony utensils. Small items such as a bamboo ladle for water (hishaku), a container of charcoal, cups, a tea whisk (chasen), a container for water (mizusashi), and other items surround a large central image of a portable iron tea kettle (kama) and brazier (furo). This design in done using a paste resist and indigo dye. A lovely blue color in four panels sewn together...

Antique aizome (traditional Japanese indigo dye) cloth taken from a Japanese bed comforter, thick cotton, circa Meiji Period (1868-1912). Excellent tapestry material. The condition is excellent; it was in new condition when we purchased. This was just washed (twice by mistake) prior to when the photos were taken. There are minor holes (shown in photo) concentrated on the top right side. Because of the size (62 1/2L x 58"W), the photos were taken from the bottom and sides.

Spectacular Meiji Period maru obi c.1900. Woven on both sides with a jacquard loom, the blue/green dyes make this a superb example of a Kyoto style obi. The motifs are fans with pine, plum, bamboo, chrysanthemum and cranes; all auspicious symbols of happiness and good fortune. Excellent condition. Can be made into table runners or hangings.
