This is a magnificent little pedestal bowl from ancient Korea. It dates to the Silla period(57 BCE-935 CE). The body is conical with rectangular perforations common to the era. This pair of pillow ends is the oldest Korean embroidery we have ever offered. They are about 200 years old, from the early 19th Century. Please look especially at the close-up photos to appreciate the very fine technique employed in the details of this marvelous and rare pair. The peonies are a symbol of love and prosperity, and the butterflies are a symbol of happiness...
This antique Korean ink stone was carved from a thick piece of black stone, and is 7.25 inches (18 cm) x 11 inches (28cm) x 3 inches (7.6 cm) high. It weights about 14 lbs. The lid is deeply carved with a swirling dragon. The base of the stone has a grinding surface that slopes to a deep inkwell for collecting the liquid ink. The border of the base is carved with a simple repeat decoration.
One corner of the lid has a chip with most of the loss on the underside...

A Fine Carved Koryo Greenish Celadon Bottle Vase:
Korea, Koryo dynasty, 11th -12th century
This is a baluster shape of body and cup-mouth shape, the sides tapering to
the flat base with no glaze, knife-cut with vertical facets below
interlocking loops encircling the shoulders, around the shoulder carved with lotus
leafy foliage, covered overall in a celadon-green glaze.
It’s in fine condition with some kiln-grit adhering to the base.
