Statue of Buddha sitting on a double lotus throne, his hands in "bhumisparsa mudra". At the center front and back of the throne, a small niche contains a relief representing what seems to be a Green Tara in regal repose posture. Inscription at the bottom of the front of the throne. Bronze with green and reddish patina. Laos, early 18th century, maybe earlier. Height: 6 3/16" (15,7 cm). Very good condition.
A rare Siam 18th. century Ayutthaya gilt bronze Buddha sits with legs crossed, right hand in the bhumispara mudra, the "calling the earth to witness" gesture, left hand in the mudra of meditation.
This posture symbolizes the union of method and wisdom, samasara and nirvana, and the realization of the conventional and ultimate truths. It was in this posture that Shakyamuni overcame obstructions while meditating on Truth, transforming delusions into mirror-like wisdom...

Antique seated bronze Buddha in Maravijaya and Virasana, made in the late 16th or early 17th century in Chiang Mai Northern Thailand.
It shows a rare high quality bronze, very heavy, solid and shiny with rests of gilt.
The statue is our property since 1938 and was exhibited in our private home since that time.
Predominantly hollow inside and nevertheless 6,5 kg heavy.

The beautiful Thai Bronze Buddha statue completely captures his upper body. The Buddha's face is delicate and simply beautiful! Bust of Buddha, his face reflecting a profound inner serenity. Bronze with encrusted dark and reddish green patina. Thailand, Ayutthaya Period, Ca. 16th century. Height: 8 1/4" (21 cm). The bust is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Good condition. NOTE: a bronze plate was welded to the back of the bust, probably early 20th century, to allow the bust to be attached to a former stand, now gone (see photos). Ex. old French collection.
This is a very nice and very old Buddha statue from Lopburi depicted with royal attire such as crown, ear rings, belt , necklace and more. The Buddha is sitting in a position of calling the earth to witness.
This statue was originally found in a property of Lopburi civilian which was buried under earth about 24 inches deep. The overall condition of the statue is very good, just only a few spots of oxidation reaction. No repairs...
