One of Margot's most opulent creations, the mirrored swans necklace is an ode to the art of repoussage and an avidly sought after piece. The example at hand, perfectly finished, with stunning patina and a richness that impresses without feeling pretentious is a comfortable 16 1/2" long (could even be a little more in wearable length due to the dip in between the swans). The mirrored swans part is 4 3/8" wide and has a 2 3/8" drop while the width at the chain is 3/8"...

One of Margot de Taxco's best designs, in my opinion, with its heart-shaped links adorned by ornate repousse and superb blue art glass cabochons, this is a formidable bracelet to wear and to behold. Its presence powerful, not only because of its width but also because of the veritable visual feast that it presents, I would consider it a true heirloom piece...

Beautiful antique gold ring in the form of a coiled snake, with a ruby in the top of its head, and diamonds as eyes. Marked with an antique hallmark with 14 just visible. Also tests positive for 14KT gold. Circa 1900 - 1920. Snakes were a popular motif in the Victorian era, signifying eternity and love, and were also a popular motif in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras. Substantial at 12 grams...

I have a weakness for over-the-top earrings hence my lack of resistance to this pair. A set from the "archaeological period", the big dangles are formed by two mirrored Quetzalcoatls, the Feathered Serpents being entangled in a tight embrace. Nice cut-outs, easily readable hand-etched details and dimpled dot findings - spectacular! The earrings are 2 1/4" long by 1 3/4" wide (at their widest) and weigh 25.5 grams (for the set)...

A trained painter and sculptor, Enrique Ledesma became one of the foremost modernist designers in Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance. Many of his pieces were sold through Plateria Cortes and the brooch presented here is just such an example. Generous in size, it combines oxidation and overlay with deep chasing on heavy gauge silver sheet and epitomizes Ledesma's sense of fluidity and abstraction in the best possible way...

I could hardly exaggerate my surprise when I bumped into this enamel necklace - obviously a Margot de Taxco inspired design, it is signed "VILLA", a name I have not encountered before and is not, at least to my knowledge, even mentioned in the extant literature. A combination of champleve and confetti, the enamel is masterfully done, with intense colors and the blue in particular revealing green undertones when the light falls on it on a certain angle...

A classic Margot de Taxco necklace, here presented in a combination of silver and copper that is truly stunning and doesn't surface that often. I have seen this specific design in all silver, with foiled blue and green glass and, if I am not mistaken, with amethyst cabs as well - I love them all but there is something about the warm glow of patinated copper as it reflects on old silver that really speaks to my heart...

I have a special affinity for early Mexican silver brooches - the bigger they are, the deeper I fall in love with them and it wasn't difficult to become infatuated with the unusual example offered here. I have not seen this design before and I find its combination of amethyst and hand-cut quartz beads truly stunning. The flower's starburst formation is also unique - a dizzying beauty...

A truly monumental sterling silver bracelet from Peru, this pieces features intricate cut-outs, dramatic oxidation and figural appliques at the center of each link. It is simply marked "PERU 925", dates in the 1950s-60s and is in excellent vintage condition.

A really challenging piece to photograph - all those surfaces that curve and turn and face each other just won't behave! - yet equally impressive and inventive in its design, this bracelet is based on a creation by Antonio Pineda that seems quite difficult to find. Signed by an unidentified maker in our case, it has powerful presence, the "sharpness" of the links' pointy ends softened by the warm caramel and brown tones in the tortoise shell inlay...

Very rare vintage Ben Reig hinged bangle in goldtone with coral color thermoset stones and clear rhinestones. Late 1940s. Marked BEN REIG. The American design firm Ben Reig operated from the 1930s through the 1960s and I believe is known more for its clothing than its jewelry.
