First edition pencil-signed Japanese shin hanga woodblock print by Takeji Asano (1900-2002) titled "Rain in Shinnyodo" in the lower margin and dated Showa 28 (1953) in the lower left margin. The artist's black ink signature is at the lower left corner of the image and the artist's name/signature is in pencil at the lower right. The left margin also bears the seal of the publisher Unsodo, the carver Okura, and the printer Shinmi. The "gei" watermark is at the lower left margin corner...

A 10k diamonds open heart ring from the 1980s. This perfect engagement or birthday gift is a size 6-3/4 and it features an open heart with twenty two genuine single point diamonds. It measures 7/16 x 3/8" across the heart, it is stamped 10K with an F in a diamond maker's mark and it weighs 2.0 grams. It is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs...

18th century New England round tilt-top hutch/chair table. Pine. Size: 46 inches diameter x 28 inches ht. Shoe feet, scrolled arms, sliding seat storage compartment in base. Top may be pegged closed as a table or hinged to an upright position in order to save space and used as a chair. The seat in the base slides out to reveal storage beneath. Condition: refinished but with an attractive mellow surface with old patch repair to top (see photos). Nice overhang allows for plenty of leg room.

Description:

Nuan-Shou, Hand Exercisers were used for palm massage by practicing in one hand. Rolling it to make Qi running through the nerve endings.
The pairs were made from tiger bones.
Enduring old patina was yielded when bone tissues were obviously observed.

It is really fun when practicing them in your hand and hearing the tingling sound.

Pencil-signed etching by Czech artist Emil Orlik (1870-1932) titled "In the Evening" (Im Abend) dated 1902. This etching was produced shortly after the artist's arrival in Japan in 1900. Plate size: 6 1/2" x 4 5/8" with large margins and deckled edges to the laid paper (paper size: 9 3/4" x nearly 8 1/2"). Very good overall condition. Slight toning is evident...

A very intriguing combination pin/pendant necklace wrought in 980 silver and adorned with scrumptious amethysts and pearls. The design reminds me of Margot's hand but it's signed by a maker who, though listed, remains unidentified. Anonymity or not though, this is a spectacular, substantial piece and you can wear it either as a necklace or dis-attach the pendant to enjoy it as a brooch. Measuring 23 5/8" long (wearable) the chain enjoys the pendant's additional 3 5/8" drop...

A small blue and white Chinese export porcelain dish. Decoration of a bird amongst chrysanthemums on rockery in front of an active sea with rising or setting sun on the horizon. Patterned border inside the rim. The undecorated verso with unglazed foot rim. Reasonably good condition with one filled rim frit. No other condition issues - sound resonance when tapped. 6 inch (15.24 cm) diameter.

A huge, beautifully made vintage Mexican sterling articulated fish pendant c1950s-60s. This fabulous 5-3/8" x 1-3/4" pendant is set with inlaid turquoise and it has a turquoise cabochon eye; each vertebra in the skeleton is linked to the next segment with silver loops and each piece bends independently. It has a large bale for hanging and three round holes resembling a fish spine (no turquoise there, nor was there, and the interior of these holes has black patination)...

A lovely roku-yu glazed form from the kilns of Korea mounted on a tri-pronged rosewood stand and enclosed in a period kiri-wood box. It is 12 inches (30 cm) tall plus the stand. There are minor chips about the rim. An excellent piece for use in the tea room. Likely 15th to early 17th centuries (Possibly later Goryeo likely early Joseon).

A diminutive English Regency period bracket clock with dial signed by Charles Leonard, Church St., Camberwell. Early 19th century. This clock is housed in an ebonized case with architectural details and with gilt brass molding to the inset front panels, pierced brass fish scale side panels with silk backing, a round 5" convex white porcelain dial with painted Roman numerals and with the name "LEONARD Church St. CAMBERWELL"; and is supported on 4 brass ball feet...

Featured on page 172 of the book MEXICAN SILVER by Morrill and Berk, this is the Female Dancers Bracelet by Los Castillo, c.1940-45. Very rare and exhibiting magnificent detail, it measures 7 1/2" end to end and is 1 3/4" wide. I am unsure if the clasp is original or perhaps a replacement although it has the same patina as the bracelet. Weighing 78 grams, the bracelet is in excellent condition. Signed and numbered as shown. A Mexican silver collectors dream.

An elegant men's headgear dating around 1900, consisting of the cone-shaped indoor headdress and the outdoor heungnip or gat. Both are made of horsehair, the gat with a bamboo brim and gauze chin straps. The top part of the hat with a lacquered blossom. Condition: traces of usage, some splits near the bamboo brim. Dimension: gat: diameter 32 cm x c. 14 cm high, headdress: c. 14 cm high.

As rare-as-can-be not just for its signature but also for the black opal baguettes it showcases, this vintage Mexican silver architectural ring was created by Carmen Beckmann. Beckmann is reported in the literature to have worked primarily in the 1950s and 1960s in San Miguel de Allende and her jewelry can vary from inspired to simply good. When she was at her most creative though, she made pieces that are to die for! This ring is, in my opinion, one of those moments of hers...
