A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 50x25 cm. Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.

A large and impressive censer, this bronze and cloisonne measures 24" high, approximately 14" wide, and is heavy weight bronze. The finial on the lid has a foo dog or lion, and the base has three mythical beasts as supports for the body of the censer. The two handles are stylized foo lions also. The cloisonne is multi colored, with a base tone of turquoise, with geometric designs in the background...

Stunning, long kinetic sterling earrings by Modernist Art Smith, c. 1950. These are screw back earrings and measure 2 1/4" long. Circa 1943-1948, the "Armadillo" design was originally created by Valentin Vidaurreta. There are several different versions, both in jewelry and belts. This bracelet has two opposing discs set in the center of a suede strap with a silver buckle closure. The strap is very fine leather, with suede on the outside and smooth leather on the inside. I had an artisan leather craftsman custom make the strap to replace the worn one which was on here.

Necklace Design 250 by Los Castillo is outstanding repousse that displays great depth, dimension and skill to produce. The silver is heavy at 107 grams. A necklace of 26 large Tibetan turquoise beads ranging in color from delicate greenish-blue hues to a vibrant turquoise blue separated by silver rings. Each bead has its own attractive matrix and nice patina from years of wearing. The necklace was bought together with the two glass dZi beads and two red coral beads in Lhasa, Tibet. It was restrung again recently to give it strength.

Koi frolic, splashing gold and silver waves as they leap and battle for the top of this stacking food dish dating from the later 19th century. The design is striking! Outside is polished black loaded down with gold and silver maki-e with applied kirigane cut gold squares. Inside is festive red. The box (assembled) is 25 x 23 x 38 cm (10 x 9 x 15 inches).
