Chinese Tang Dynasty White Pottery Horse & Rider
This unusual model of a horse & rider was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a creamy-white pottery that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments. Note the detail of the overweight rider's clothing and hairstyle.

Three small Chinese Guangxu mark and period ogee form bowls with lobed rims, each exquisitely decorated on the exterior in famille rose enamels with a quail standing on rockery below bamboo wrapped with leafy vines sprouting flowers and double gourds that extend over the wall to the interior well. A single bird flies above. The base of each bowl holds a six-character kaishu form iron-red Guangxu mark and of the period (1875-1908). 4” diameter x 1 3/4" high...
A 16th to 17th century (Momoyama to early Edo period) candle-stick of vine or root set onto a hollow carved base and covered in black and red lacquer with a metal stud and drip pan. It is 11 inches (28 cm) tall and in overall fine condition, with wear typical of centuries of use.
