The Kiseruzutsu (pipe case) is delicately engrave with a goose and grass, bone ring to the top. The clasp to the leather pouch shows a tiger and dragon in brass. When seen together, they represent the concept of duality in the cosmos. There is a repair (sewn together) on the left side of leather pouch. This dates from the first years of the Meiji period (1868-1912).

Offered is a fabulous, one-of-a-kind group of 15, hand-carved and hand-painted, circa 1920-1930's, wooden miniatures of Black Folk as they would have appeared during the Harlem Renaissance!

Large sterling silver and amethyst pin designed and signed (c.1940)by Taxco, Mexico artist Hubert Harmon. Measuring 3 inches L X 1 1/2" W. Harmon designs are rare and always interesting and humorous. A blue & white pear shaped/Yuhuchun vase, with main decoration of continuous Lotus sprays in nice cobalt-blue tone. Ming dynasty 15th century. Condition: Mouth rim area missing and restored, the neck down to body is perfect, unfortunately the shape not in well balance and one kiln adhesive adhere on the body visible on enlargement 4, otherwise it's a rare item. Fierce looking old Samurai ningyo (Japanese doll) in rare museum quality. His head is carved wood and the face resembles kabuki actors or Jyoruri ningyo (18th to 19th century puppet theater dolls) from the Edo period (1603-1868). It is definitely a work of art.

Excellent woodcarving of a fasting Buddha depicted as an emaciated ascetic, revealing his thin chest and pronounced ribs. He is sitting in a casual pose on a mat, next to his slippers. The boxwood with beautiful patina. Condition: tiny losses, one side of the whiskers restored (could be done better). Dimension: 16.2 cm high, weight: 264 g.

A lovely small b/w stem cup, decorated with bird among floral scroll. Late Ming Jiajing period, Fu character mark on the base.
