I am assuming that Barrera must have been an early Mexico City maestro since most of his work that I have had is in the style closely associate with that city and Matilde Poulat's creations as well. I believe that his jewelry is of excellent quality, his repoussage comfortable and very confident at the same time, and the finishing always impeccable...

Chinese porcelain plate finely painted in Qianjiang enamels, showing a temple in a hilly landscape. Dated, inscribed and signed Tinghui (apparently Fang Tinghui, active late 19th century). The base with four character mark "Zhushan rui pin". Condition: fine, only gilt rim and blue enamel with little wear. Dimension: diameter: 22.6 cm, 3.8 cm high.

Vintage, intricately constructed 970 sterling silver and amethyst cabochon bracelet designed & signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico modernist artist Antonio Pineda(1919-2009). Each of the large 6 egg shaped amethysts are framed in a silver band and suspended above a silver cupped platform drawing reflected light through the deep rich colors of the gem quality stones. The bracelet has a wearable length of 6 3/4 inches. The stones are graduated in size with the largest being 1 1/8" long...

An Edwardian enamel miniature stand-up picture frame circa 1910 1920. This antique tiny picture frame measures 1-5/8" x 1-1/4" and features green baisse-taille enamel over copper. It has a support strut with traces of silver plating, so it most likely was silver plated originally...

Antonio Pineda properly hallmarked this beauty that is 1in. wide but it looks like more because his design moves outward in the center for a convex shape of interlocking chevrons. The weight is a hefty 132 grams. These pictures are NOT photo shopped but the piece was very difficult to photograph with lots of reflections coming off the convex shape. The diameter is 2.25in. which will fit most. No damage, has fluid movement and a joy to wear.

An ornate and richly decorated Chinese cloisonne enamel vase c1900 in the Persian taste. This 16" decorative vase features a blue ground with colourful flowers, leaves, flower buds and branches in pink, white, brown, red, pink, orange, blue and green. A massive Japanese 19thC bronze jardiniere or plant holder with raised or bas-relief detail. This handsome antique signed Japanese bronze work stands 13-1/2" tall and it measures 11-1/2" across the opening. This is a large example of a classic bowl design, and it has a nice patination (appears somewhat lightened in our photographs to show detail). It features perching and flying birds and floral branches, a decorated collar with bat designs (a sign of luck and prosperity) and incised decoration...

A nicely carved natural amber pendant with one bat and leaf design. The bat represent longevity and happiness. The bat and happiness sound is in the Chinese language is similar - both pronounced Fu. Size: L. 2.5cm. Condition: No repairs, cracks or chips.

A very stylish 1960-s period 14Kt white gold sapphire and diamond ring centered by a 9.2 X 6.7 millimeter 1.76Ct oval natural sapphire with excellent quality and great color. The center sapphire is flanked on either side by a brilliant cut diamond, which gives the ring an elegant tailored appearance. The approximate total weight of the two high quality diamonds is 0.45Ct.

Slick in the most mod way, a vintage sterling silver hinged bracelet by Enrique Ledesma adorned with a prong-set simulated alexandrite (otherwise known as color-changing sapphire or corundum). I am always attracted to Ledesma's sweeping lines and the stylization of the motifs he uses (this specific design is often likened to a fish, for example). When it comes to hinged bangle bracelets, I think the Los Ballesteros taller was probably the most creative of the Taxco workshops.
