Based on Matilde Poulat's "Paloma" design, the necklace at hand is only hallmarked with Eagle 1 assay mark, which was also used by Matl herself. Its quality and workmanship as you can see is such that justifies the assumption that it might easily have come out of the big maestra's workshop - the repousse dove is carefully rendered; the stones are beautiful and tightly set; and the silver work bespeaks the time and effort the necklace's maker put into crafting it...
A mystery maker - nothing is known about him/her despite the fact that the specific signature is referred to in the literature - the creator of this hinged, mutli-row bead and turquoise bracelet did a amazing job indeed!
Repousse beaded bracelets of this type come in various widths and silver/stone combinations. I have seen them with amethyst, black onyx and obsidian and love the turquoise variation...

In the mid-1800's, an unknown artist painted the face of a young Black boy in warm, soft colors, and unbeknown to the artist, forever immortalized the young boy's image! Since that time a variety of items were been produced in the image of the "Young Black boy with the Torn Hat" or "Johnny Griffin".
This circa 1910-30's Johnny Griffin item is exceedingly rare, being the only example of this form ever seen by this seller either in print, on the internet or “in person”...
An early design for the Los Castillo taller, I don't know what one would call this piece if not iconic and classic. In my mind, the "fern" motif is closely associated with vintage Mexican clamper bracelets. It has been produced for decades due to its popularity and demand and can be found with all kinds of signatures or simple "generic" Deco hallmarks...
The second Erika Hult de Corral bracelet currently in my inventory (please look for item no 1189406 as well), this piece is absolutely fabulous. Quite substantial yet still comfortable to wear, its mod sterling links are studded with green, mossy agates. The bracelet feels divine around the wrist and as rare as Ric bracelets are, the specific design is even more difficult to come upon. With an inner circumference of 6 5/8" (clasped), it is perfect for smaller to medium wrists...

An impressive hinged bracelet with an industrial design based on machine-age influences. It is of hollow construction, with each angular piece connected by pins of base metal. The hidden clasp, composed of a hooked piece that neatly engages a hinge pin, seamlessly continues the alternating geometrical peaks of the bracelet. Because of its light weight and curved construction, the bracelet is quite comfortable to wear, despite its hefty look. The surface exhibits a soft patina and slight signs of...
A nice and original red enamel dish, decorated with a phoenix at the interior. Ming dynasty 17th century Swatow type in perfect condition. Diameter:
A scarcely surfacing Sigi Pineda necklace and earrings set, here the renowned Taxco modernist combines in the perfect way his skills as a silversmith with his aptitude in mozaic inlay. In this set, sea blue turquoise and what if often referred to as "blue jeans" sodalite are combined in a freely flowing, elaborate knot to create the necklace. Mirroring the links in the necklace's chain, the earrings are set in oval sterling frames, one with turquoise and the other with sodalite inlay. I cannot ...
The primary designer for Plateria Rancho Alegre, Miguel Martinez created some of the most beautiful jewelry available in Taxco at the time. There is something primordially powerful about his jewelry and I think the door-knocker dangle earrings presented here illustrate in the best way what I am trying to say. I love the "fleshiness" of the design, , the attention to three-dimensionality in its execution and the perfect way by which glowing silver and oxidation are married together. The earrings ...

A rather rare name to come up, this is the first Abel J. piece I have ever seen and handled. The maker is listed yet other than hallmarks and the fact that we know their name, I was not able to find anything more about them. Yet the necklace at hand is a piece whose imaginative design and gorgeous material combination should warrant some notoriety for its creator. Just note how beautifully darkened the rosewood looks in its sterling setting - the fruit as well as the pieces in the crown links h...
Matching the big brooch in the same design that I presented a few days ago (please refer to item no 1204747), this set of dangle earrings is showy, fun and a pleasure to wear. The set's weight comes up to 16.5 grams and it is signed with Eagle 22 (one of Davis's assay numbers). Again, there is no signature for maker yet it wouldn't surpr...

We have here a lovely example of Mexican silver repousse by the Maestro Pichardo. It is 4.5 inches tall and weighs 78 grams heavy. No dents and a tight spring. The diameter is 2.5in. which is a great size for a push up to work on a keyboard.
An early Los Castillo creation as indicated by the low design number, this is also a classic for the taller - repousse swirls accented by beads and riveted together to imitate the waves in a distant sea. The links' depressed areas are beautifully oxidized to intensify the design's depth and by construction the bracelet offers maximum comfort to its wearer. It measures 7 1/4" long (wearable) by 5/8" wide (at its widest) and weighs 39.9 grams. Signed with the taller's name as well as des. no 392,...
I have seen this brooch years ago with Fred Davis's signature and was a little surprised at the almost cartoon-like design at the time so the memory stayed with me since. And when I recently came upon the demi of brooch and earrings (you can see both pieces in the next to last photo), I held my breath - only to find Eagle 22 yet no FD initials on the back of the pieces. Unfortunately, Davis is famous for not being as meticulous as Spratling in having all his jewelry marked with his signature... ...

An ancient panel relief depicting Buddha and Bodhisattva gathered around him. The sculpture is deeply carved from a single block of schist. Measuring 24 x 13 x 3 cm. in antique condition.
