How often does one find an Enrique Ledesma starburst pendant? And if one does come upon an example, how often is it of such astonishing proportions? Let me answer my own question then - not often at all! Yet here I am presenting you with one and it is spectacular. Having a huge flat-cut color-change sapphire (synthetic corundum) at its heart , the pendant shoots out eight elegant sterling rays, their slender bodies curving away from the center to end in flattened drop shapes...

What with their bows and their beading Margot de Taxco's "cornflower" earrings are the epitome of retro elegance. The set presented here is, I believe, the smaller version of the design but I love it for its easy-to-enjoy size and the wonderful patina that enhances the sculptural appeal of the floral dangles. A classic in Margot's repertoire, the pair is always "en vogue" and adds that distinct quality to one's appearance that makes heads turn...

This graceful fairy was made in the Art Nouveau style. While contemporary, she still conveys the design ethos of a bygone era. Oddly, during the Nouveau era – roughly 1890–1915 - very few fairy jewels were made, except some very high-end ones by designers such as Lalique. She is made from 18k yellow gold, and her wings are plique a jour (translucent enamel). The colors shade from pink to almost white, and then into green...

This pair of matching gold pins is made from richly-colored yellow gold. They would make an excellent addition to your collection of Victorian jewelry! Measuring 1-1/4” x 1/4”, they say “BEBE” on the front. They test as 9k, and together they weigh 3.0g. The findings are signed “VID”. There are tiny flowers and other floral designs at the edges. It looks like the safety-pin findings are old replacements...

This is a very special necklace, combining an Art Nouveau central panel set with a freshwater pearl and a sapphire-blue glass stone, with an Etruscan-style fringe. Unmarked, it really looks like gold, however it tests as rolled gold or gold fill (we didn’t test the fringe for fear of obvious damage). The central panel measures 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” including the dangles. In total, there are 11 graduated dangles or drops, the longest being 3/4” and the shortest 3/8”...

This stick pin is really interesting. It depicts a crescent moon – symbol of the female principal, intuition and new beginnings; an arrow – symbol of swiftness, Sagittarius, and sexual attraction (Cupid’s bow!); and a 5-pointed star, symbolic of so many things we won’t even start! It is set with 11 turquoises (birthstone for December, believed to be good for healing and focus), and one seed pearl. The rose gold tests as 14kt. It measures 7/8” at the widest point; the whole thing measu...

Hallmarks date this whimsical Hubert Harmon repoussé pin 1944-1948.

Before moving to Mexico in the early 1940's, Harmon had been a fashion designer who worked for Schiaparelli in Paris, and for Elizabeth Arden in New York. His designs are very unique, and as he only produced work for a short time his pieces are rarely seen.

This is a spectacular piece composed of two pins connected with a long chain. There is no end to the many ways you can wear them. The cat measur...

Spratling designed this quite rare AZTEC MASK pin in the 1930's. The pin measures 3 inches across X 1 1/4 inches high & weighs 20 grams. The WS hallmarks on the pin date the piece to the 1930's. In the 1940's Spratling added additional elements to this design as pictured on Phyllis Goddards' site spratlingsilver.com. Please see the photo of the later design from Goddard's site for comparison. The piece is in great condition. The safety on the pin back is in fine working order.

This elegant and beautiful band features a continuous wheat sheaf pattern (wheat signifies love and charity). It was made at the turn of the last century, according to jewelry historian Christie Romero (RIP). She told us it was probably made using a process called “die rolling.” It is marked “22ct”, “PLATINUM” (the platinum is under the gold, as you can see in the photos), and the maker’s mark is “B’s”. We believe it is from England. It is size 5-1/4 plus a little, and it ca...

Nice heavy quality sterling silver belt buckle by Taxco silversmith, in the style of Aguilar, though signed with other initials, vintage item, mid 20th century. Measures 2" x 1 1/2". Well designed, the buckle has two beads and applied geometric and curved silver sections, in pre-hispanic designs. Signed on back with circular stamp, Taxco 925 Mexico, with the initials JS in the center. Sometimes workers for major silver smiths in Taxco and Mexico City make items on their own, using the desig...

Wonderful old Mexican silver bracelet in bold design with large oval green stones, stamped "Silver Made In Mexico", the bottom part of Mexico not visible. It measures 7" long and 1 3/8" wide. Very substantial, the silver is heavy and the stones are large and raised high above the bezels. The clasp is a simple folding snap clasp that holds firmly. The design is very similar to the early works of both Spratling and Aguilar, and could have been crated by them or by a worker in their studios. I...

Blue enameled flowers (each centered by a diamond) are surrounded by pink enameled foliage, and streams of tiny diamonds. So pretty! 18k yellow gold (stamped 18k, with a maker's mark), it has a nice weight (8.5g), yet is elegant and graceful. It contains 30 points of a carat in diamonds (just under 1/3 of a carat). This amethyst ring is an iconic Antonio Pineda design, shown on p. 154 of Silver Seduction. It's a mid-century piece, collector quality, with perfectly matched amethyst cylinders which are channel set in a thick and chunky 970 silver setting. This showpiece from Margot de Taxco is supremely rare. I've not seen another. It's a necklace which instantly commands attention.

The huge centerpiece can be used as a pendant necklace, or detached from the chain to serve as a pin.

It is a spectacular necklace, with a huge almost Foo Dog design with earrings. The hammered recessed on both the pendant and chain are oxidized, providing a great contrast to the silver.

Pendant/pin measures almost 3 1/2" wide, 2 5...

This wonderfully detailed pin is by Edmond-Henri Becker, one of the best-known French medalists from the turn of the last century. Above her head is a banner saying “Jehanne d’Arc” and “1429”. The back shows a banner with a figure which is hard to make out, and two people praying. This Antonio Pineda necklace is composed of eleven diamond shaped pyramidal onyx stones which are framed by silver "X" links. The clasp is a tongue in box which is a silver pyramidal shape as well. It's a design which is rarely seen, and a superb modernist piece which is fully articulated and lays perfectly on the neck. It's difficult to measure, so I've shown it against a ruler. I would say it fits more like a choker necklace and is meant to be worn higher on the neck. Weight is a hefty 11...
