We are looking at a signed Los Castillo design # 472. The necklace is 1 1/8th inches tall and has a comfortable length of 17.5in. Because of the height of this piece the wearable length is 16.5in. I have never seen this link in the past and it is made with open backed repousse which was used in the beginnings of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The weight is a hefty 86 grams and reflects the quality of this necklace. This necklace came to me with a natural, very dark patina...

Often referred to as the "Spratling of Peru", Graziella Laffi needs no introduction to the knowledgeable collector of vintage Peruvian silver jewelry. Inspired by the country's rich pre-Colombian heritage which she interpreted in a mod, timeless way, Laffi's pieces are sought-after and just a pleasure to have and behold. The hand-hammered necklace at hand, oxidized and endearingly assymetrical, has four figural, sculptural charms hanging off it...

A most unusual Mexican Deco necklace, this Mexico City figural example falls under several categories. Its links are inlaid with azur-malachite in the Los Castillo "mozaico azteca" style but it also belongs in the "mask" jewelry sub-genre thanks to the repousse portrait adorning the central station. And even though this is not a work from Taxco and its maker is, for all intents and purposes, an "unsung" contributor to Mexico's 20th c...

One of the most interesting pieces by Los Castillo I have ever encountered - and in my experience a rarely surfacing cuff at that - I am thrilled to be presenting this bracelet here. Fusing copper and sterling silver, the cuff is a double-wide version of the taller's popular des. no 909. Yet in our case, the copper part makes for the repoussage-d face and is then seamlessly applied on the sterling background. Could this be an experimental piece or a custom-made version of the design? Either way,...
