A very interesting yet no less monumental bracelet by Enrique Ledesma in which the maestro combines modernist silver work with curved stone tubes left unpolished- a rather unusual choice for him. I am intrigued by the combination and think that the stones are actually malachite with veins of pyrite in them. Vividly colored, the bracelet has a stunning presence because of its magnificently architectural links and it feels divinely around the wrist...

An unusual 14Kt yellow gold and onyx signet ring, set with a 12 X 10 millimeter rectangular onyx. The onyx is topped by a three dimensional white gold skull and crossbones. The shank of the ring has 25 on one side and HH on the other. Probably indicating the date of 1925 and initials HH. The ring probably was worn as a pinky ring since it is a size 4 ¼, but it can easily be sized within limits.

What is there to be said about this Villasana clamper that a careful look at the photos won't reveal in the most detailed, decidedly direct and breath-taking way? Sometimes I just feel that a picture is indeed worth a thousand words... One of Spratling's early designs, the "ring with three cascabeles" possesses the primordial charm of ambitious beginnings that are nonetheless steeped in the creativity of ancient cultures. I believe the motif is the same here as that in the tortoise shell and silver "snake" box - the more I look at it, the more I think of writhing serpents with spotted skins. The cascabeles are simply the melodious cherry that tops an already superb piece. Even though it is obvious that the ring has been resize...

Eagle 22, one of the assay marks used by Fred Davis, is stamped on the bracelet at hand and its design combined with the fact that Davis was not at all meticulous at signing his pieces makes me believe that we might as well be dealing here with one of this creations. Light and airy this vintage Hector Aguilar foliate brooch looks almost like an anatomical leaf study in fine, .940 silver. I think it is a fern leaf that is presented in its absolutely bare essentials yet the stem's playful curve and the graduated lessening of the pin's width as it proceeds from base to leaf tip impart a pleasantly deceiving illusion of sculpturality.
