This attractive porcelain jar, or vase, was made in the Transitional period, c. 1620 - 1660, most likely during either the Tianqi reign (1621 - 1627) or the Chongzhen reign (1628 - 1643) of the Ming Dynasty. Antique gold gilt Thailand amulet exqusite ancient Buddha.
Provenance purchased from and English ambassador to Thailand from his personal collection. Measuring 3" x 1.5" or 8cm x 4cm. In all original antique condition.
The detacheable central Tirthankara surrounded by other Tirthankaras, two elephants holding his princely parasol, his throne supported by two lions. On the back there is a lengthy inscription, holding the date 1674 in Samvat, which is 1617 in the Western calendar. The shrine is inlaid all over with silver. H. 28 cm, W. 19 cm. Condition: some old damage and an old repair to the thinly cast back of the stand. Otherwise in wonderful original condition.
Description: A bronze Karmapa Lama figure was finely cast.
Being preserved rarely with original gilding, this strikingly depicted statue was in sitting posture on a square pedestal.
Fine carving craftsmanship was well rendered in depicting the deity's facial expression in a natural way.
The bottom cover was a later restoration which was not unusual for Tibet bronze pieces.

Vietnamese 16th Century Green Glazed Bowl
This rare bowl was made during the 16th century. Apart from the unglazed stacking ring and base it is coated in an apple-green glaze, the depth of colour of which varies according to its thickness. There are small areas around the inner wall where the glaze has not covered but this appears to be unintentional.

Decorated in underglaze iron-black with alternating vegetal and cross-hatching panels, with lobing highlighted in brown glaze. Buff stoneware body with a greenish transparent glaze stopping above the foot which is painted in iron-brown, unglazed base with a circular firing stand scar. This footed round stoneware box was made during the 16th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. It is decorated with scrolling and geometric patterns in underglaze iron-brown with a clear blueish and finely-crackled glaze. The inner surface of the box is coated with same clear blueish glaze.

A stunning painting of Mt Fuji viewed from a misty sea by Yukansai (Kano Arinobu, 1605-1677) painted in 1672 at the age of 67 on silk. The image of Fuji, broken by clouds, dominates the scene, with rolling hills and sailing vessels visible in the foreground. It is mounted in a field of copper brocade extended above and below in beige silk and measures 26 by 49 inches.

Two Chinese blue and white reticulated "linglong" tea bowls, from the Hatcher shipwreck, dating from circa 1643. Each painted with five roundels enclosing different landscapes in underglaze blue, flanked by pierced cash motif walls. Standing on a short footrim, the base is unglazed and with a red "Hatcher Collection" label. Condition: fine, one bowl with a minimal tiny rim chip. Dimension: diameter: 9.1 cm, 4.9 cm and 5.1 cm high.
