A large Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) cold-painted pot from an old Japanese scholar collection enclosed in an ancient kiri-wood storage box bearing a great many stamps inside the lid. The fine clay is covered in elaborate designs in red, white brown and orange pigment. The piece is 11 inches (28 cm) tall. There is minor damage to the rim but no repair or restoration; a fine example of Han Dynasty painted pottery in fine condition.

Fine glaze in retrospective sheen was applied on the surface when greasy-feel body clay was revealed at the bottom in brownish tint.
The vase was preserved in nearly perfect condition when two minute and shallow glaze chips were found under the flaring mouth rim.(see picture 3 )
They were being restored and were not noticeable from usually watching angles...

A very elegant pair of Antique Andon lamps dating from the Meiji period in the original storage box from a Kyoto estate. Well applied on the surface with greenish glaze, the bowl was decorated in the cavetto with carved motifs of three playing babies among scrolling flowers.
These were characteristic motifs for the dated periods.
Firing effects were yielded within the foot ring where the body clay was revealed.
The bowl was preserved in perfect condition with only one minute dent on the rim. It was caused during pottering.
