A colourfully enamelled porcelain figure of Zhongli Quan, one of the Ba Xian (eight immortals) made in Jingdezhen, probably for export, circa 1790- 1810 during the reign of either the Qianlong or the Jiaqing emperor. Mounted on a black hardwood stand. There are many Han heads on the market, but the ones with bronze earrings are very rare. The head is 11 cm high, including the stand it measures 22,5 cm. Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). Authenticity guaranteed.

Description: A charming amber pendant was carved with Chilong motif. Silver framed with chiselled flower motif and a word " Fu " (well-being) on the reverse side though at 19th century, the carving amber piece was from 17th-18th century of Qing dynasty. Preserved in very good condition, attractive ice cracks can obviously seen under magnify glass. Aged but greasy feel looking, the hue is much more darkened in real than in the pictures...

An unusual, sancai glazed stoneware caparisoned elephant form vessel. The larger opening on its back is suggestive of a lime pot (our best guess) with only traces suggested by an off white cast on the sides of the otherwise buff colored unglazed interior. Large Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain wash basin decorated in underglaze blue with leafy vines and sweet pea flowers set against a white ground with a pale blue tint. The exterior holds three flying bats. There are small amounts of kiln grit adhering to the unglazed foot rim. The base is glazed. 13 3/8” diameter x about 4 1/2” high. 19th century. Very good overall condition with typical minor production imperfections...

Delicately crafted, in perfect proportions, this Chinese vessel sits on four feet, flares slightly to the rim which is decorated on the top with flowers and scrolling elements, and has blue enamel inset into the Greek border on the edge of the rim. The body is heavily decorated with flowers, butterflies, and scrolling foliate designs, all in shades of red/rose/pink, blue and green over a dark bronze/brass background, with a solid blue enamel on the bottom...

Chinese bronze tripod ding censor with two upright arched loop handles at the rim. A geometric band encircles the rounded body. A comparison with porcelain forms suggests a dating of S. Song to Yuan dynasty for this vessel. 5 1/8"H x 3 3/4" diameter. There are original casting flaws on the legs and a slight dent in the body (see enlargement 6). This piece is from a Tucson, Arizona estate.

In motifs of five bats(Fu, good fortune) surrounding a archaic character-Sou(Longevity) expressing the good metaphor, and scrolling clouds on the rim as decoration, this ivory piece was believed having been hanged as a lucky charm by the noble people.

Large Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Saddled Horse with Oxford TL Test

This impressive pottery horse was made during the latter part of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is quite "heavily-potted". Its surface has been cold-painted in a creamy-white pigment, good traces of which still remain. The horse stands upright and alert. On its back is a large integral saddle.

Description: A wood panel was carved with a house, a plum tree, and an elephant. An odd combination when an elephant was described in Chinese garden. "Good sign(elephant) stays in my house" -a greeting words meant a lot to Chinese people. The panel or the architecture sculpture had always been bestowed with the best wishes like this. An elephant who doesn't seem to be realistic, maybe just because the carver had never seen a real one. Date: Qing Dynasty(early 19th century) Width: 19.5cm

Chinese late Ming (16th/17th century) Zhangzhou (Swatow) porcelain deep charger decorated in iron-red, green, and black overglaze enamels on a cream-colored crackle glaze ground with a central roundel holding flowering peonies. A band containing four floral panels against a crossed line ground extends around the circumference of the rim. 13" diameter x 2 3/4" high. There is significant wear to the enamels and several very old rim chips (see enlargements 6 and 7)...

A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 57x24 cm. Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.

Description:

A Yaozhou bowl was mold in curved rim.
Well carved with floral motifs on the surface outside the bowl, the bowl was stand on a circular foot ring.
Padding grits were preserved at the bottom when incursions were happened to the mouth rim and on the ridges of the patterns where the glaze was thinner.
It was in perfect condition.
Iridescent effects were reflected in the glaze.

Date: Song/Jin periods, 11th/12th centuries...

A well painted late 19th Century Chinese Moon Flask decorated with scrolling lotus design and with panels on each side depicting two confronting dragons. There are two 'chilong' dragons on the shoulders. This item was made during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). Condition - there is a 4cm (1.5 inch) hairline running from the rim and an old chip to the back of one of the chilong dragons. 19.5cm (7.7 inches) high.

Red pottery with a turquoise glaze, with moulded decoration of peonies. Apart from some chips to the mouth rim this censer is in a very good condition. H. 15 cm, diameter 12 cm. Width from handle to handle 18 cm. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Chinese carved lapis lazuli tripod censer featuring 2 side dragon heads holding loose set rings standing upon and additional three dragon carved paws. The lid of the censer features a sinuous chilong as a handle. The stonework a deep blue with veins of mottled grey.
