A quite large Chinese silk purse with outstanding embroidery. One side showing a deer looking at a crane on a pine, on the left four Chinese characters. The other side with a flock of swallows near a flowering tree. Edged with a black and white woven band and a silvery rim, the silk tassels having gold and silver wrapped threads. Silk lining. A beautiful nineteen century woven temple carpet with nice design. The center pattern features 3 large multi-colored abstract florals against a black background that is surrounded by a blue & white keyfret design frame. The center florals include stylized lingzhi fungus combined in the design. The outer edge features abstract cloud and water patterns. These designs symbolize longevity, fertility and good luck. Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Pottery Buddhist Zodiac Jar

This very rare and attractively-shaped pottery jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province.

The jar has been decorated with four large lotus leaf panels within which are moulded and applied human figures and zodiac animals. The pottery is quite “brittle” and there are minor losses to the vulnerable edges...

A Chinese paired apron wraparound silk gored skirt, woven in tapestry (kesi, kossu, k'o-suu) technique with some silver wrapped threads and painted details, attached to an undyed cotton waistband and trimmed by a brocaded band. These two snuff bottles are Peking glass, created to look like gemstone, one jade, one agate. Both measure 2 3/4" high and have stoppers, but no spoon attached. (The darker stopper may be stone, as it has considerable inclusions and is heavy). Both are well done, and give the appearance of stone. The "jade" bottle has a very soft sheen, similar to what actual jade would look like, and has a small foot. Both in good condition, the jade one with a slight chip on the lip. A Chinese jade carving shaped as a lotus pod and incised and carved with prunus flowers, the endless knot and a bird in flight. The stone is of celadon hue mottled with russet. This is an elegant and superbly carved composition depicting auspicious objects . Age: 17/18 C. condition: excellent, no breaks no restoration.
