Vietnamese 15th Century Blue & White & Enamelled Covered Box

This very attractive covered box was made during the mid 15th century. It is quite "heavily-potted" and elaborately decorated in underglaze blue with a mixture of floral and geometric patterns. It is coated in a crackled glaze on top of which are traces of the original green enamel. Diameter 6.5 cm...

A finely decorated Vietnamese blue and white porcelain bowl. Thinly potted and with a crackled glaze over blue and white aquatic decoration suggesting waves on the bowl's exterior, a conch shell inside the cavetto and surrounded by a variety of blossoming flowers among grasses. Good condition with expected wear including a couple minor chips inside the foot rim and light abrasion inside the bowl. Diameter at widest point 6 1/8 inches (15.56cm). Height about 3 1/16 inches (7.78cm)

A ceremonial cylinder used by Senior Monks to send letters to each other. The animal in the panel is a "balu-gwin" Size: H. 33.5 cm. Base diameter: 5.8cm. Condition: Normal wear, no repairs.

A lovely wood carving of a dancing Hindu goddess, the face and the sarung meticulously painted. Provenance: from the same estate like the Peranakan sarung. Condition: some cracks, paint with few losses and wear. Dimension: c. 30 cm high.

Chinese Qing dynasty export porcelain Benjarong (five color) bowl made for the Thai market densely decorated in relief polychrome enamels around the circumference with eight alternating Buddhist celestial beings. A set of Mandarin squares, comprising a front and a back, dating around 1900. Insignia for a court official's wife, with appliqued silver pheasant bird, denoting the fifth rank. Gold and silver metallic threads couched on violetta silk, lined with blue silk. Condition: traces of age, little faded, back badge with short tear (please see photo # 10), lining little stained. Dimension: 25.5 cm x 28.2 cm.

An ancient necklace made from fossilized wood also know as Pumtek. The word Pumtek means "buried thunderbolt". This type of necklace is very rare. Size: 56 cm from end to end.

An alloy metal Buddha sitting under a bodhi tree.This is where Buddha gained his great Enlightenment by sitting in concentrated meditation beneath the bodhi tree at Bodh Gaya in Bihar,India. Can be made into an amulet. Size: H. 6.3cm. W. 3.3cm. Condition: No repairs.

This attractively-shaped round box was made during the 15th century and has been recovered from a shipwreck. It is quite "heavily-potted" and decorated with a pattern featuring lotus leaf panels filled with floral or wave patterns. The underglaze blue has fired to a very dark blue...

In bhumisparsa mudra. The eyes inlaid with glass or seashell. Condition: the head broken and repaired at the neck ( old repair) , the ushnisha slightly curved. The red and blue painting on the base are later. Lovely piece with beautifyl patina. H. 37 cm. From a Dutch private collection.

Burmese silver ceremonial or monk's begging bowl. The exterior is decorated in repousse with a wide band of five mythological scenes with one figure and an elephant between foliage. Apparently unmarked. Condition: fine. Dimension: 13.8 cm diameter, 9.8 cm high, weight: 352 g.

A small Burmese Buddha made of silver. Its form is simple, unadorned and its hand is in the earth-touching gesture. The face has a wide nose with connected eyebrows and has a quiet presence.

Period: Burmese, 16th Century

Size: Height = 5 cm., Width at base = 3.5 cm.

Condition: Normal wear due to its age. Has a nice patina.

A small statue of a dancer in traditional costume, finely cast and cold-worked in bronze and fixed on the original wooden stand. Such small bronze figurines were souvenirs and gifts from British Burma of the 1920s/30s. Condition: fine, only wood stand with some chips and traces of usage. Dimension: total height: c. 16 cm, base: 12.3 cm x 8.8 cm, figure: 12.5 cm high x 9.5 cm wide, weight: 1200 g.
